Bolt action 223

Looking for some feedback on bolt action 223s. I'd like to give the cartridge a try but really don't like the AR platform. Mostly for shooting at paper/steel beyond 100yds.
My Howa 1500 thumbhole .223 is the most accurate rifle I've yet fired. They don't offer this stock any longer, but you can still get one from one of the third-party vendors. Just a great rifle.

Another vote for the Tikka T3 / T3x, in SS Lite flavor.

I liked it so much that I ended up installing the action in a stock worth more than the rifle itself, which kind of defeated the purpose of choosing the Tikka in the first place.

Thanks for all the responses! I still have not been outside to shoot this year. The Browning A bolt I mentioned earlier is still in it's case. The days it's been nice enough outside I have spent with golf clubs in my hands. Pretty soon we'll get more than one decent day in a row and I'll get out there.
I gotta move to a warmer climate......

I only have one bolt gun in .223, and I wasn't really looking for it at the time, but turns out it's a damn fine gun. A guy won a Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 in .223 in a raffle, didn't want it, and put is up for sale. It was BNIB, but I got it "used" private sale, at a good price, so I had to latch on to it. Turns out, the little thing can shoot very well. Bolt, and trigger are both very smooth. I had the barrel shortened to 16.25" and a closed tine Warcomp put on it, and it's my walking around patrol rifle. Doesn't have the bipod on it that's in the photo. Lighter, and quicker handling that way. I'd like a 1/7 twist for the heavier 77 gr bullets like my ARs shoot, but it likes the Fed 62 gr Bonded rounds just fine. It's a 1/9 barrel. Gonna try it with some 64 gr Gold Dots one day.

All good suggestions for brands/rifles. I don't think that you will go wrong with most modern bolt action rifles. It boils down to budget and what fits you the best.

That being said. I have had great luck with all of my Savage rifles. Savage heavy/varmint barrels seem to be very accurate. I have two Savage MkII rifles (17m2 and 22lr) and a Model 12 308, all with the varmint barrel. They shoot great. If I were to get a 223 bolt rifle, it would be a Savage with their varmint barrel. The 17m2 and 308 can actually be boring to shoot at 100 yards on a good day.

I finally got around to swapping the stock on my Model 7. It's a B&C in medium grey ... actually a bit more blue-grey than it looks in the pic.

I like it! I went with tan and black (HS) on my blued .260 probably should have given the grey a closer look. BTW was just out back plinking with my M700 XCR, burning up the last of my Sierra 69HPBTs now that I've switched to 69TMKs. We chose wisely picking that rifle.

That is a screaming deal. If I were looking for a bolt 223 I would snatch this up. I have this LTR in 308 and it is an amazing rifle.

It's very similar to my REM 700 XCR Tactical in .223, which is no longer produced. The 40X trigger is excellent and an HS stock is around $300 by itself.

I finely got around to getting a pic of my Winchester Featherweight. It’s the rifle I use for groundhogs.

I’ve given some thought to buying a Ruger American but just haven’t made up mi mind about it.
I am looking for a Used Savage in 223, but the plan is to convert it to 277 Wolverine.
