Bond Arms Stinger: Thoughts?

I'd like one day a Glock 42. The thing is, once one gets to Glock 42, Shield .380, Bersa Thunder sizes, they are much more shootable but are as big as many 9mm sub compacts.

Indeed. And the G43 is about as shootable as the G42, so why stay with .380? And if you are going with the G43, why not the 43X to have more capacity with about the same footprint.

I am assuming once Glock came out with the 43 they just abandoned any more consideration of the 42, otherwise why not 42X? My Dad's Shield in .45 ACP is smaller in my hand than the G42 and actually pretty easy shooting with a replacement guide rod.

Having fired a Ruger Blackhawk .30 Carbine many years ago I'm familiar with the muzzle blast and fireball. I can't quite wrap my head around what it would be like from a 3" barrel.

I have very minimal experience with Bond Arms derringers but I have shot a 45 ACP one and I wouldnt have one if it was given to me. Very hard to shoot, make the better word is awkward, and recoil was pretty nasty. Better than nothing ... barely.

Well, I suppose that depends on its purpose, doesn't it? Beautiful paintings, and diamond rings are completely useless yet, oddly, people enjoy having them. I don't deer hunt so, therefore, I think .30-06, .243 Winchester, 7mm Remington, etc. rifles are pretty ridiculous. Way more recoil than a .22 LR.
BTW, the Bonds can be had in milder calibers for those who are recoil sensitive.

The lighter calibers though are more manageable, such as .38 special or 9 mm. I do think the heavier calibers are too much, including .357 out of my .357/.38 barrel. Also, they aren’t easy to shoot at first, but I have gotten to a basic level of accuracy with them.

This is what I always say to those who either say all guns must be hyper functional, or those who question collecting guns at all. People collect far less functional items than guns, and Bond Arms. Like you said, art, jewelry, collectible action figures, antiques, etc.

I’ve got the 9mm. Often goes with me in the pocket with the slim polymer grips, loaded with a couple of CCI shotshells, especially down the slope to the lake in the backyard as I walk by “rattlesnake ledge.” But it’s very quick to change to a cartridge with a bullet from a speed-strip in the pocket. Just a bit of an SOB to shoot with those thin grips and a regular 9mm load. Only thing any easier to carry in the pocket is one of my NAA revolvers. Although only two shots, I could reload the bond 4 or 5 times in the time it would take to reload the NAA.

here is my b.a. 327, but loaded with 32 wadcutters. for some reason, in the middle of the flu crunch when lgs shelves were empty, i found a bunch of 32long and 32 ammo too cheap to pass up, but didn’t have a 32 revolver. $168 for a 327 b.a. barrel and my problem was solved. ammo scrounging is another nice thing about b.a. derringers. a 327 stinger would be excellent.

I read it after you posted it. I think it's reasonable. Where she got a BA for $194 is in question? That's a screaming deal.

I bought one for historical interest. Probably many people do or just to collect.

Regarding the two shot aspect, I suppose this would support getting a more powerful caliber for the BA. It is true that one can't get a smaller big bore gun than a BA, to my knowledge. But, it's two shots. I suppose some American Derringer/Davis/Bearman type derringers are actually slightly smaller, although they are mostly .38 special/9mm or smaller bore. Especially Davis/Bearman. And, those are junk guns.

Even the article compares it in size to .380 and .32 ACP pocket pistols.

The grips fit but you need to use the grip screw from the Stinger (or rubber grips). The grip frame of the Stinger is a bit thinner than the defender/roughneck/etc.

bond arms customer service told me directly to not shoot 32acp from the 327/32 barrel. pressure? rimless cartridge? there was no explanation, just don’t.

Sweet! I only have a Roughneck frame and two barrels:..357 and 9mm
