Sorry? I am not sorry, but extremely happy to have obtained this amazing gun. Not for carry. For fun. Thanks for the article. It is a good article and I do think .357 magnum would be a bear to shoot out of a Bond Arms Derringer. My only regret is that I only shot 30 rounds (yep that was half a box of 50, plus the 2 HP and 3 .410s, my mistake). I should have shot the whole box. Well I''ll be going back, will take the BA Derringer and maybe the Charter Arms Bulldog .45 Colt.
 
GONRA has the Bobergs and Bond's Bullup9 .
(Looks like it came out of a Tool & Die shop!)

Begging Bond to make the Bullpup45 for sale....
No luck so far.....
 
Now I am itching for another barrel. .45 ACP keeps calling me. Options:

2.5" barrel is $130
3.0" is $160
3.5" is $180
4.25" is $225
Roughneck with 2.5" .45 ACP is $277 ($130 for barrel and only $147 for the rest of the gun!)

I kind of like to avoid the 2.5" though it would be good for concealment and is lower cost.

Take away the case length of .45 ACP ~0.9" we get a 1.6" effective barrel length for the 2.5" barrel. Seems 3" may be better (2.1" effective), but then for only $20 more we get the 3.5" (2.6" effective length).
 
One of our distributors has cataloged three new Bond Arms. None are in stock yet. One is a Rawhide 2.5" which presumably is a full size in 22 and .38 Special. There are no pictures of the Rawhides so I don't know how, or if, they differ from the Roughneck. The other two are steel frame stingers with 3" barrels; one in 22 and one in 38 Special.

Wow, nice, the .38 Special would be a great barrel. If it is their standard gun. If it is the Stinger the barrel won't interchange to my Rowdy.

Other than that I would love to get a barrel in .45 ACP.
 
Stinger in 38 really, really, interests me! Would prefer the lighter aluminum framed one but that isn't a deal breaker. Would wait if they are going to do Al soon. Don't want to have to buy an Al 9mm and swap the barrels for a 38 as that could take a while to get that lined up for something new like the Stinger.

It looks like they'll have both but I have no details on the Rawhide other than it apparently can be had with rubber or wood grips. The Stinger is listed as BASRS so it's the steel frame. (BASRL is the aluminum one).

I wonder if the Rawhide will be an addition to the budget Rough Series. That would be great.

The price of the rawhide on our distributor websites is actually a bit lower than the Roughneck. The .38 Stinger is the same as the 9mm and .380 RS. The .22 is listed as a bit less.
Correction on an above post: The rawhide .38 that I mentioned is actually a .38/357.
This is pure speculation only but I'm thinking the difference in the Rawhide and Roughneck may be the finish. Perhaps the Rawhide will be a finer bead blast à la the Stinger RS, rather than the more course blast of the Roughneck?

Wait wut?! I can’t even keep up. Thing is, I have a roughneck .357/.38. I don’t want a full size .22. Stinger in .22? Hell yeah
 
I think the reason my Rowdy .45/.410 did not feel bad to shoot is that the grip on the Bond Arms is 1.25 inches wide which helps my big hands get a good grip. I thought I might want the longer grip, but no, the standard grip is working just fine.

Can't wait to get the Rowdy back to the range. Sadly the ranges don't like shotguns, at least two I have inquired of don't. I would love to shoot more of those .410s. The .410s gave a nice group of roughly 8-10 inches (did not measure) at 5 yards with #4 buck.

Interesting that Bond has no rifling in the first 2.5 inches of the 3" .410 barrel. I read (think it was the Taurus .45/.410 revolver) that they have rifling all the way, but not as deep, so apparently the Taurus has rifling where the shot shell chambers [this has been corrected, see post 274 below]. This is less likely to help the .45 bullet since it is shallow, but probably better than no rifling. Though the trade off might be that shallow rifling extends the whole barrel on the Taurus.

Are you saying the cylinder of the Taurus is rifled? The Taurus is a revolver. The shell does not enter the barrel. If the Bond were rifled all the way the .410 shell would not chamber. Easily demonstrated by trying to insert a .410 from the muzzle.

The cylinder jump is something that some people are concerned with that will impact accuracy. People that have the Judge and Governor seem to enjoy their handguns!

I want an aluminum stinger in .22 or .32. No need for all steel and all that weight

My mistake. Apples to oranges comparison. No difference in the rifling in that both guns have the rifling after the chamber. Here is the article on the Taurus and an excerpt:
With the Judge, Taurus tried to compromise those two barrel styles with shallower rifling than you’d normally find on a handgun or rifle. And you know what they say about a good compromise? No one leaves the table happy. This shallow rifling means that bullets aren’t as stable, but the shot doesn’t disperse as widely as it would when fired out of a shotgun barrel.

Basically, it shoots shotgun rounds better than a more typical rifled barrel would, but worse than a shotgun barrel would. Likewise, it shoots bullets better than a smoothbore barrel would, but not as well as a more deeply rifled barrel.

So initially I had the faulty image of rifling along the shot shell plastic part, and maybe they could do that in the Bond Derringer, but it probably would do no good unless the .45 bullet is wider than the shot shell plastic cylinder. Probably not.
