Bond Arms

Heck, .25 ACP for that matter.
Guess what?!

25 ACP Pistol and Handgun Ammunition (buffalobore.com)

BB stepped up to the plate and decided to make hotter .25 ACP. 'Hotter' is relative:

Well I just had it to the range again. Shot 50 rounds. Half were 250 grain cowboy rated 790 fps and half were 250 grain rated 860 fps. There is definitely some significant recoil--very manageable, but for the beating your hand takes. And now 2 hours later my hand is still sore from it. So I think maybe a smaller caliber barrel is making more sense here. Possibly a 9mm, or a .38 Special/.357 Magnum. The 180 grain cowboy loads (820 fps) are nice and gentle to shoot, so I will stick with them. All the ammo I am shooting is from www.cavalryammunition.com.

For those Derringer naysayers I'll say that this gun is so much fun. I bought it two weeks ago and here on day 13 of owning this gun I have had it to the range 3 times now! That is how much fun it is. I even let a guy at the range shoot 4 rounds out of it and he loved it too, said he is going to get one.:)

The .357 barrel is good for range of power, including light .38 target loads. .38 wadcutters are nice out of them

87C49389-3F27-41F6-BFA0-6C99D9D3D9C9.jpeg Guys I went on a huge hunt last year for elusive .38 long colt and .38 short colt. I have a mostly full box of both now, having shot maybe 15 of each. Long colt shoots like a wadcutter. Short colt is light shooting and will turn your .38 or dare I say derringer into a nice little 1800’s pop gun to deal with ruffians. Mayhap for trouble at the Faro and card tables.

The problem is I've purchased 4 completes guns and 3 barrels this year and I have a .38 Stinger RS on order. I'm still hopeful that at some point my superego can out-shout my id and convince me that I have enough.
I’m operating under emergency authorization and powers for buying firearms since the advent of Covid. ‘Why you can never have too much firepower for the apocalypse and by golly you know you didn’t spend as much on going out and travel the last two years.”

i actually believe that b.a. derringers are a useful, albeit expensive, niche firearm. my reasons:
1. single action with rebounding hammer and a safety is the ultimate in safety.
2. full range of ammo choices by switching barrels makes for easy ammo scrounging during shortages.
3. they don’t print.
4. built like a brick outhouse, i.e. you probably can’t break one or shoot it out.
5. changeable barrels and grips mean easy customization to suit your tastes.

autodidactic: where did you see the b.a. raffle for a 22lr? thanks.

Agreed. BA raffle was in a BA email.

Bought one last year, not really sure why.
38/357.
It gets left in the car, in the truck.
Not terribly practical, just different.
I'm not in the least bit curious as to how it shoots 357's.

I probably shot about 5 rounds of .357 out of mine. Painful recoil. Probably literally the worst 'felt recoil' I've ever experienced in a handgun. But, I had to shoot a few. Since, I only shoot .38 out of mine.
357mag bang-bang  I would have to try it once

Like the kid who couldn't help putting is tongue to the metal pole on a zero degree day. I would not be able to resist putting some .357s through that barrel. :D

I suspect the .357s would be worse than the 250 grain .45 Colts I shot out of my .45/.410 barrel.

Different people learn differently. Some learn by listening, some by watching, some by reading; but some just have to pee on the electric fence just to see for themselves.
