Braced Pistol stamp Watch Thread

I'm not sending in anything.
I will modify my existing gun to be legal.

Ok Great, I know several folks whom feel the exact same way you voiced.
Thank you for your opinion Sir.

moving on Army EOD you mentioned the cost of your LGS of 35 at the kiosk is that 35 a pop or 35 total. Reason I asked is there is a company that kinda took over for the State Police for hard/ digital fingerprints on the covid time frame. they charge 70.00 for the prints and photos which in my case of two being submited means we spent the same amount of money. Just wondering is all

Yep, $50 per form. It does save the hassle of prints and picture. But factoring in the savings of prints and a picture, it still cost me about $100. Steep, but money well spent.

Ask me if it’s well spent if the rule is overturned and we are told to put the braces back on.

I thought about holding out until the last minute to see if the courts would order an injunction. But seeing how bump stocks took 4 years…and I was going to SBR at least one of my pistols, better safe than sorry.

Will/do they notify your CLEO too or is that still on us?

They take care everything. My info was in their system because I used them for a suppressor.

This site will answer your questions.

There is a YouTube video walkthrough that is very informative towards the bottom under ATF eForm walkthrough

I’m glad they take care of everything. I read the FAQ and thought it meant they would only submit the fingerprints but didn’t see anything about CLEO notification. FWIW, I used them too to submit the Tax-Amnesty Form 1. I have nothing but good things to say about how they handle the process.

The shop charges me $35 per form. The manager takes photos of your firearm serial number and manufacturer data and passport photo, does fingerprints and helps coach you through the form. Only have t0 take passport photo and prints one time as they stay in the software database. The shop purchased a dedicated workstation/software for the ATF processes and forms.

Anyone getting these back? I am at day 43 of thier current estimated 40 day wait time and have had no movement at all on my three e-form1's for the brace amnesty. No internal control numbers on my forms, nothing but crickets.

Feel your pain there ID-shooting I'm on day 44 (submitted 6th Feb) as well, seems I have heard some that have gotten theirs back approved. I recall one member saying his was approved on day 30 another on day 50 .That leaves me with the impression that number of days until approval was all over the place.

On the internal control number don't worry, mine doesn't have one assigned either. But they do have a ID and permit number assigned. I suspect that the internal control number is not used, first time using eforms for me.

That being said, the Internal control number may not be used until approved / adjudicated I don't know.

Was told by my LGS that the ATF has halted the approval and application process for a while because Congress is working to stop the ATF. Supposedly the ATF resumed the process of taking registrations again. It may explain why the approvals have slowed down? Anybody else hear this?

There is a Senate proposed resolution, but without Republican control, this isn't going anywhere. I doubt the ATF would halt anything based on this.

I think only the courts can stop them.

The differences in processing time are insane. I honestly thought it was my suppressor approval from August, still waiting on that one

Quick question-
I'm waiting on my form 1s for my braced pistols (now SBRs)
Do these need to be disassembled into legal pistols while I'm waiting on the form 1 approvals?

I did not. But I am not the authority. If you call ATF, probably nobody will have a clue. My LGS did my application. They did not tell me to pull the brace off. Technically, it is now an SBR. So there is that.

When the law goes into effect, in May, the braces will have to be removed.

It is not an SBR until an approved letter, or tax stamp with the traditional route, is received.

After May, any pistols not yet approved must not be braced any longer. They may not be stocked until approval is received.
(And must also follow other ridiculous rules relating to large pistols.)
