I liked this one.

Sarah Kingston Last month a friend of mine was shot, if he had had a gun to defend himself, other people could have gotten hurt too. It’s a never ending cycle of violence in this country, when will it ever stop?

Dumbest quote....ever.

I only made it through the first 2 or 3 comments before I LOL'ed. Then the next 2 or 3 left me fuming.

DELETED sentence... Taking the high road and remaining silent with any further opinion.

Wait. So that person is saying that if the victim (friend) would have had a gun. The attacker (non-friend) would have been hurt.

OMG!

Three comments in and I want to :barf:

Honestly I just cannot understand the mentality of the people wanting to give up more of their rights is astounding...

Normand Pelissier - I'm in favor of overturning the Second Amendment if that's the reason we can't get rid of unnecessary guns in this country. All we ever hear from the NRA and their right-wing followers is SECOND AMENDMENT. I'll gladly give up my second amendment rights if that's going to keep me (and millions of others) from being killed by a firearm.

Again:barf:

Looks like we have a lot of folks to educate. It is funny...I have taken very liberal folks shooting before. People similar to those on the Brady page saying things like "I don't understand the desire to or or shoot a gun." I first train them on safety, mindset, and operation. We spend an hour shooting, and they have a blast. It costs me $30 and makes a new shooter in the world with a realistic alignment of firearms.

Yes fear is indeed a fatal disease. Look at how some people freaked out about the swine flu, including people in my own family. As they spew out their own irrational beliefs, other people that have the same beliefs are somehow strengthened. Groups of people end up forming mobs that carry that irrational belief system on and on.

Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Rolling in his grave......

Best post over there so far:

Kevin Does anyone have any thoughts on whether it would be beneficial to moderate this venue a bit more?

I can't help but notice that there seem to be an awful lot of gun advocates trolling this venue, spoiling for confrontations and opportunities to disrupt discussion. Perhaps that sort of vigorous, unrestricted dialogue is consistent with what the Brady Campaign is seeking to achieve with its facebook presence; perhaps that's what the majority of facebookers prefer as well, in which case, please pardon my two cents.

Speaking for myself, though, I hesitate to post here because I anticipate being bombarded by the standard attacks from belligerent gun advocates. Maybe that's just me, but if others here are similarly reticent to engage in healthy discourse, perhaps it would be helpful to set a few baseline rules regarding posting and authorize some volunteer moderators to police disruptive posts. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

Keep givin 'em hell, boys! :)

I "applied" to join to be able to post, I wonder how long it will be before they permaban me:evil:

And my second-favorite:

Note to all: arguing with gun-worshiping extremists requires lots of energy, and ultimately accomplishes nothing towards our goal of passing common sense laws for reducing gun violence. Please refrain from responding to them until you've completed all of the latest action alerts especially the ones we sent you urging you to contact your congressional leaders.

Gun-worshiping extremists? :D

They don't allow ANY form of debate whatsoever. Same with "students for gun free schools."

Go to the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus page, however, and they have a very active discussion board. And sometimes even antis come on the board with questions - and we take the time to rationally and calmly discuss their questions and concerns.

You'll never find that on the Bradies or SFGFS page, as they are well aware that allowing "logic" or "fact" will only subdue and erase their message built on lies and naivety.

I keep finding gems on there:

A guy in my neighborhood may have altered my stand on firearms. He was the victim of a home invasion be 2 men . One of the men had a small
bat and the other grabbed the mans daughter and held a knife to her throat. They demanded money and perscriptions. Unfortunately for the
bad guys this guy had a concealed pistol on him.
He got his billfold and tossed it to the left of the
guy holding his daughter with a knife. When he grabbed for the billfold the father drew his pistol
and shot bad guy#1 in the head and bad guy #2 twice in the chest. His daughter suffered a small cut on her throat but was ok. This was 1 block from my house in a nice well kept neighborhood. Tomorrow I'm going to buy an
automatic pistol and a small safe to keep it in.

And somehow, this one is still on there:

why a group putting the amarican people at risk of opression is given non profit status is beyond me just like a terrorist front i know of that has non proffit status

i'd like to know what credentials sarah dip**** brady has in the firearms industry how many years has she worked in it who many years has she trained with firearms what guns she specialises in? these are the kinds of things you have to be to deside if a car is safe or not but if you wanna decide if a gun is safe your dad just needs to be a bystander at an attempt to assonate the president of the unighted states and your tears will magicly teach you every thing about fire arms

and finally, this one:

College students are speaking out in SUPPORT of proposals that would allow responsible individuals who have state-issued permits to carry on campus for protection, too.

Your attempts to create fear and your opposition to self-defense are not surprising - victims give you a lot of money. So, why allow people to defend themselves? That would create less victims! So, onward you go with your gun-control. Yet, the CDC and others have NEVER BEEN ABLE TO SHOW THAT GUN CONTROL WORKS.

Not worth it. Join the NRA and other pro-gun pages, such as becoming a fan of your carry gun. These pages have FAR more numbers than the Brady Bunch's fan page.

How does one become a fan of their carry gun?

Is there a 2nd Amendment I'm a fan group on Facebook?

I might have to start that if there isn't.

I'm sure they will start moderating and/or disallowing comments once they get overrun by the pro-rights folks. It's fun in the meantime!

Wow, I loved this one:

Steve Richardson left Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence a note.

11:29pm May 12th, 2009
We need to eliminate guns from civilian ownership.

My cousin Bobby was a victim of gun violence. He was only 20 and full of life before he was shot by a civilian gun owner. Now he'll never grow up, and the rest of us will miss him the rest of our lives.

He'd been dealt a few bad cards in life, but he was a good boy and didn't really mean anything by what he did. He got into a few scraps and did some time in foster homes when he was younger. Nothing really serious, just kid stuff, some break-ins and one or two fights that the local prosecutor tried to make a big deal out of. He had a hard time of it, couldn't really hold down a job in this economy, and got mixed up in some drugs and meth. But he was a great kid, always ready to help out, with a great laugh when he was up to some prank.

One night he was lost and went into the wrong house thinking it was his. The homeowner was some kind of Rambo type with a handgun, completely unlicensed. He claimed Bobby had a knife, but that was just his pocket knife

I don't even know how people develop such a mindset. Let's see, little cousin Bobby was a repeat offender, mixed up with hard drugs, and somehow mysteriously entered the wrong home brandishing a knife (which, he had apparently done in the past and had been busted for). But no, it's the "Rambo" home owner who is at fault.

Are you kidding me? That is just staggering.

James W. Hunt I've donated and signed many sites to get guns regulated. I won't quit my activism until the IRA changes their senseless way of doing things that promote guns, particularly automatics!

These Folks are clearly in touch with what is going on!
