Brass polish ??

Did you use chopsticks to clear cases? LOL

I clean with the primer in so the decap pin will clear the primer hole of any stuck media.

Does anyone here put corn cob/walnut media in their rotary "tumbler" or is it used exclusively in vibratory type "tumblers"?

I still have my 20 yr old Cabela's vibratory "tumbler" (repaired twice) that I started with. During these type discussions, I would hate to refer to "changing the media in my vibrator", or "recharging my vibrator."

I guess I could just call it my "case cleaner".

I had a rotary once and used corncob. It took forever and never really got cases as clean as a vibratory does in 1/3 of the time. Just my results.

I mix the Nu-Finish 50/50 with mineral spirits. Make sure you get REAL mineral spirits and not the replacement stuff.

This thins out the Nu-Finish, that's the only reason to use it.

Corncob will give a shine. Walnut is a better cleaner but gives a matte finish.

Might have to try it that way next time. I did get some rice grains in the primer hole. Had to use a pick....a little sideways pry to break the rice off flush with the hole and then a pole to get it out.

I have an old Midway vibratory tumbler, to which I added corn cob media, Nu Finish, and mineral spirits. I was impressed with the shine on the brass after tumbling. Only caveat is that the basement of my house smell like mineral spirits now. May try some other solvent next time or none at all.

Personally I do not like using any kind of polish on my brass during the tumbling process. I tried Nu Finish and did not see any appreciable difference. I always tumble my brass twice. Once at the start and once after I have de-primed and resized to get the case lube off. After the second tumble the cases are shiny enough for me and function just fine.

Have you tried just using plain tumbling media? I started tumbling my brass way pre-web and got no "internet wisdom" on what is "necessary", and walnut lizard litter (dark brown) from PetSmart worked great by itself...

Lizard litter and NuFinish has worked very well for me in the past

I've used both Walnut media and Corncob in a rotary tumbler. Like M-14 said, it was slower than my vibratory tumblers. But it worked.

How do you add it in? I've of course used it for polishing prior to bluing, and for roll and polishing lenses, but never thought about using it for brass.
I have a fist sized block of red rouge, and I use one of those cheap styrofoam shapers to scrape off a tablespoon (+/-) of rouge powder which I just sprinkle in as the tumbler is running
