Maybe I dreamed this, but I would have sworn under oath in court there were companies out there that would process your brass for you on a X:Y ratio basis. i.e. I send 1000 pieces of 1x LC brass, I get 500 (or some amount) pieces back sized, trimmed, & swaged. Or I get reformed 300BLK brass back in return.

Searched & found lots of folks selling fully processed brass but not the "trade in" type deal I thought existed. Am I nuts or is this a thing????

I recently got 4k pieces of 1x LC. Overall just a bit too much with what i already have, I need to convert a lot to 300 BLK, and just have 0 desire to run that much thru super swage 1 at a time.

IF there are people out their doing brass processing that way that you've used before, I'd appreciate recommendations & pointed in their direction :)

Thanks, but not quite.....and I did google.....

Those places you send brass, you pay them X¢ per piece, they process and return.

What [I think] I remember seeing were places that just kept a portion of your 1x brass as the payment. Again, could be imaginary, but I remember seeing this advertised for 300BLK converted brass and thought for 5.56 too....

I remember buying 556 brass from a place that stated they would do that. This was 3-5 years ago.

Brass bombers? Maybe.

I could imagine that kind of in-kind-payment option coming and going from the market based on overall brass availability. Seems likely that processors would have offered that kind of deal back in the old shortage days, when it was hard to get range brass. Right now, brass is plentiful, and accumulating more inventory of unknown provenance/mixed-headstamp brass may not be something processors want to do in lieu of cash.

Makes sense & would explain why I saw this years ago & can't find today....

I remember now.

Texas brass works

Will check them out - thanks!

It was the X:Y math that confused me.:D

Brass = Money, At y price per X how much is you time and effort worth?;)

That's the thing....I got these 4k pieces for a nominal amount from a buddy. pickups from a police indoor range. But with what I already have. I don't really need that much. So if I could send it off and get 1500 + 500 processed 223 & 300blk back, it would be worth it to me. But $50-$60 per 1k for processing, nah...will just do myself. I don't know what 1x LC 556 brass goes for, but I don't have anywhere near $50/1k in it.....

Oh well...I guess that was a thing several yrs ago but think ATLDave is right ...nobody is hard up for brass so no reason to offer that
