    Back when FN-FALs cost thirty pounds and the No4Mk1 was half that.

    £30 in today's money would be about £522 or $831 so the Lee Enfield would have been roughly equal to about £261 or $415 to buy. Seems you could buy a lot of gun for your money back then.
