Today at the range I was shooting 90g rds through my G32. On my 30th round the slide locked back, all the way back.:mad: After hitting it with the heal of my hand and it not budging I took it over to see Sarge. Sarge is a 6' 2" 275 lb well built fella. He smacked it a couple of times and it slid back forward. I took it apart to find the cross shaped plate attatched to the trigger on the lower reciever was bent upward.:eek:
My question is has anyone else used their Glock waranty and how long did it take to get fixed?
My G32 is my primary platform so I will feel unbalanced for awhile. They did not offer the G32 platform this year. Will that make a difference on the turn around time from Glock? I would have bought another today as back up for my primary but they no longer offer it. Should I reduce myself to the lowly 9x19?:cuss::banghead:
What would you do?
 
I don't understand the part that you can't get a G32.
Two of my distributor have several in stock!
Call me if you need one.

Did you use reloads?

That sir is an insult. My duty weapon is cleaned on a weekly basis even if it is not fired. I do not abuse them, for one day my daughter's life may depend on it.
You may treat your firearms in any manner you like, but do not insult those of us with more intelligence. The 9x21 cartridge is a cleaner cartridge than the 9x19 IMHO.

I think I was shooting off Spear Law enforcement training ammo, from the blue box. I also had Winchester Rangers that I was going to try. All the ammo was factory stuff.

tblt yes a 9x19 will work but I have become accustomed to the 9x21

Naw its still hot down there I'm sure. The fact something happened to a Glock is so strange that anyone that has it happen has to post about it ASAP.

I apologize doc. Just covering all areas in your situation.

Your exact situation happened recently when a member at my local indoor range brought back a rented S&W Model 910 in 9mm from the firing line with the slide locked back. The result was a dirty, caked up innards. After detail cleaning, it was smooth sailing.
 
Glockmania, no blood no foul. I really bought this weapon due to all the "it is combat tupperware", "takes a licking and keeps on ticking", and indistructable like an AK comments made here at THR.
Truth is I found it is just another excellent piece of hardware that is subject to the laws of nature. Maybe 9x21 is too strong a caliber for a polymer weapon designed for 9x19. I love my Glock, but maybe I need to look into this further. I have heard .40s have a problem with KBs.
I may need to give Sig a new look.

Beware the Glock fanboys Doc, they are rabid. ;)

I am not a big fan of Glock, but it's really a personal choice. I am a big Sig fan and I can tell you I've never had nor heard of any Sig "KABOOMS". They can break like any other mechanical item, but I don't see it happening.

You may also want to look at the M&P as an alternative to Glock or as you say give Sig another look.

From what i understand newish glocks in .40 now have the proper chamber support.... though i could be wrong.

Glock's are fine handguns, they wouldn't have gotten the following they have without the goods to back it up.

However I don't own a glock and truth be told i don't want to. I own a Sig P226 and P220 ST, and I couldn't be happier with them. Don't believe that you'll be able to find a Sig in 9x21 though.

I find it interesting that Dean Speir was so dismissive of this incident, but is balls to the wall on Glocks. Fact is, any gun can go at any time. That's what happens sometimes when you attempt to control explosions.

Incidentally, I have that very gun in that very caliber on my hip, and I'm not at all worried, nor am I worried when I fire my Glock 27. If it happens, it happens.

That is odd, 9x21 is also called .357 Sig. Why would I not be able to find a Sig, in .357 Sig?

Wouldn't it have been easier to call it that from the get-go instead of using non-standard terminology? I swear, some people get too cute for their own good.
 
Okay, let's get one thing straight. What's all this about "9x21"? Isn't the G32 chambered for .357SIG? I believe 9x21 is a lengthened 9x19 designed for the civilian market in Italy and other places that forbid civilian use of "military" or "police" calibers, and is wholly unlike .357SIG, which is basically a necked-down .40SW.

When I used 9x19 for 9mm, I would have thought 9x21 would have already been known to be .357 Sig. They both tell you the size of the projectile launched from the weapon system. How is actual projectile size not common terminology? I am not trying to be cute here. It is no different than choosing 5.56x45 over 5.56x39 or 7.62 Nato over 7.62x54r. Each caliber is different and I see them this way. I know 5.56x45 is the same as .223 and 7.62 Nato is .308, but I dont hear people complaining when someone mentions it one way and not the other.
 
If you actually HAVE a Glock in 9X21 it would be most unusual. IF you are shooting .357 SIG in it, something is very wrong, and, vice versa. You can't call a .357 SIG a 9X21 becuase that name is already taken, and, its a radically different cartridge than the .357 SIG. 9X19 refers to the diameter and the case length. So does 9X21.

Special Calibers
In some countries, it is illegal for civilians to own guns that are chambered in the same caliber as the military. To support the civilian market in these countries, Glock has produced versions of their 9mm guns in 9x21 caliber and versions of the .45 ACP guns in .45 HP. The 9x21 cartridge is identical to the 9x19 except the brass case is 2mm longer. The .45 HP is 1mm shorter than the .45 ACP.

In Italy, the 9x21 guns have the following special markings:
"9x21" on the left side of the slide
The Italian "Numero di Catalogo" on the left side of the slide. The Italian Government keeps a register of all firearms available in the country. Each single model has it's own "Numero di Catalogo" number. Therefore, all Glock 19 9x21s have number "CAT 5693", all Glock 17 9x21s have a different CAT number, etc. Of course, this code is different from the number attributed by Glock to each single pistol.
Two small Italian Governmental marks on the right side of the slide. These marks certify that the handgun has been imported in compliance with the local applicable rules and that it has been tested at the Italian Governmental testing ground (Banco di Prova). All pistols are tested there with a few very powerful loads before being distributed to the retail dealers.

doc2rn, I agree in principle that naming calibers for a metric diamater-by-length measurement is a good format, but the fact of the matter is that caliber nomenclature is driven more by tradition and marketing than descriptive precision. "9x21" is an actual caliber unto itself, also called "9x21 IMI", and if you talk about "9x21", many people are going to assume you live in Rome and have a Beretta 98.

The problem is compounded by the fact that .357SIG is the rare modern bottlenecked pistol cartridge, making it unlike .380ACP, 9x18 Makarov, 9x19 Luger/Parabellum, .40SW, 10MM Auto, .45ACP, and so on, where the diameter of the bullet is more or less the same diameter as the case, minor tapering, etc., notwithstanding.

"Golly! This is barely a "catastrophic failure," let alone a kB!. A single stock panel was broken and a pin went missing, both parts easily replaced. But the receiver, the slide, the barrel and the rest of the internal parts all survived the unsettling event! The SIG P239 would appear to be a sturdy little pistol!"
 
Nobody I know refers to .357 Sig as 9x21 or vis a vis. 9x21 is a necked up 9mm and not chambered for any Glock currently for sale in the U.S. This is awfully fishy, what ammo were you running or trying to run in your Glock?

Of course we could refer to the .357 magnum as 9x33 like they do in europe but we don't, do we!

These are the only Glock's I know of chambered in 9mm Largo(9x21)that ended up in the hands of any US citizen directly from the factory......
 
I really did think doc has a glock in 9x21. I just don't know my glock pistol designations that well i guess.

But it's been hashed out i think... 9x21 and .357 sig are not the same thing.
