Hi - I was gonna order a Turner Saddlery sling, but I had to order other stuff from Brownell's anyway, so I got one of their Competitor Plus slings for my M1. It's certainly a well-made sling, and it locks me in tight while dry-firing at home - do you guys have any opinions on it, pro/con? I don't exactly have buyer's remorse, but I just have a nagging suspicion that I could have saved a few bucks and done just as well with a gun-show-special MRT sling...

I have never seen one, OR heard about one, other than your post and the Brownell's site.

Could you post some detailed pics of the frogs, leather grain and thickness, and the keepers?

My friend Jeff Rost will tell you that the Brownell's Sling is a little better than the Military MRT slings (which are next to worthless for Highpower Rifle use). He did not get even a season of shooting out of his Brownell's sling.

Your money's already spent, but for those still shopping, the Turner is about the minimum standard for Highpower Rifle, and for just a little more money, the best is a Les Tam sling. To see the difference between the Turner and a Tam sling, take a look at the "Stock Art" thread. The USMC Rifle has a Turner hanging from it. The Hula Girl Rifle has a Tam Sling.

If budget is a concern (or if you like simplicity), find yourself one of the old Cotton Web Slings. I've been using one for about 3 years now and like it.

Muchas gracias, guys - your input is muchly appreciated. In all honesty, I'm not gonna be using it all that heavily - maybe one match a month, plus one plinking session a month, tops - so I'm pretty sure it will "make do" until I invest in that Tam sling. I just got tired of the incessant clinking from my web sling's clip...

Steve - no camera, therefore no pics.:(

Here's some pics of Les' Slings.
