At the local Gander Mountain I came across this shotgun in the used rack at not too bad a price. I am looking for a project gun, something to tinker with and see if I can make it any better looking and mayby shoot it a bit.

The gun is rough. The wood is worn but not a lot of dings and dents, the "bluing" seems to have been removed and some sort of parkerizing applied in a previous life but it is worn and thin.

I'm thinking of redoing the wood (Ican handle that) and then seeing about some sort of re-blue, either at home or a gunsmith job, depends on price.

Numrich has some mechanical parts and I found a site that sells replacement barrels for this model (It is pre-screw in choke so replacment barrels for adjustments were supposedly the standard for this model).

When I get all done I might put a box or three thru it just to say I did and them put it in the gun rack for show and tell.

What do you fellas think? Is it worth it? Is the gun itself good enough to bring it back to some sort of usefullness? Prior to seeing it yesterday I had never heard of this shotgun but it did catch my eye.

they're actually very nice guns. Browning's first gas autoloader, built in Belgium. Beautiful finish with hand checkering. Soft shooter and reliable...
