Brush Plating - Experiences

Does anyone have experience using the brush plating kits available to repair small damaged areas on Old nickel plated handguns? The cost is quite reasonable. My experience is that products like these are never as easy as they seem or as advertised. Here is a link just several products at caswell's.

I've used that setup to do some touch up work. It works pretty well, just need to make sure there is a copper base for the nickle to bond to. Takes a little bit of time but it is pretty easy.
