Bucket list 1911

Its worth every cent.. While it may be one of my cheapest semi custom 1911 purchases.. It definitely ranks way up at the top in my meager collection.

I have 4 1911s they are my favorite type of handgun;
My favorite one is my Ed Brown it’s my only semi custom ( other 3 are Springfields and a Colt new agent) I hemmed and hawed for years until my wife told me to just buy it she was right. Ed Brown got it exactly the way I wanted, thin grips, clean slide simple gold beadFS and basic rear sight
It’s my nightstand gun, sometimes carry, sometimes woods gun .
In my case it really was worth it

 

Collectoritis. It's a disease. As contagious as covid and there is no cure. The symptoms consist of an overwhelming desire to preserve an object that has never been used... for posterity. For future generations to enjoy.
While at the same time giving the owner of said objects a chance to post pictures of them on shooting forums and brag about his ownership of them, hoping to induce feelings of jealousy among the other forum members....

OK....I'll stop...Why do people ever buy anything they never intend to use? I could never understand my son's passion for collecting rare wine bottles and storing them.....when he will never drink any of them. I could buy a Yost gun with change left over for what he paid for some of those bottles of wine. Or art collectors that will pay thousands of dollars for a painting, only to hang it on the wall and never do anything but look at it. I would buy a reproduction, myself.

I will never shoot my C-96 but that doesn't mean I don't get enormous pleasure and satisfaction out of admiring it and showing it to others. It is a 99+% gun. If I were to run a box of ammo through it, and wear off a percentage point or two off of the finish, I would have halved the gun's monetary value. I have a second C-96 for shooting. Same thing with my Hi-Power.

It boils down to whatever floats your boat, I guess

Truth. I personally take nice pics when I first get the gun and the I shoot them. I don't abuse them but without a doubt I am taking % points off the condition. I figure I will let my heirs deal with what they are worth once I am worm food.

 

I like either my Wilsonized Colt Combat Elite or my Wilson CQB. Both are accurate, reliable, and smooth.

 

Buy an aircooled vw next

 

I would take my Argentine Systema and have a nice barrel and slide fitted to it and go from there, It has a beautiful 1 piece machined trigger and I love the main spring housing, just needs a new barrel and slide.

 

My last three 1911s. One more on the way.

 

My 1911 bucket list was completed by Luke Volkmann. I have one of his earlier Combatant Carry pistols. If I get another 1911, it won't be anything particularly special or worthy of a bucket list.

 

It's not much, but it's been my bucket list 1911 for over a decade. Finally got my hands on one over the summer. I am more than happy with it and feel my 1911 needs are met. My only regret is not being able to get it to the range when I was home, I can't wait to shoot it!

 

The hype around the Valor isn’t just hype. As you can see from my post, my Bobbed Valor Has survived several safe purges and remains a solid favorite 1911.

 

I would love a high end 1911 but i cannot give 3-5k for one. Instead i have settled for a more ecomical 1911. Shoots great and no malfunctions so far.
