Okay, so let's talk about BOBs now that we've witnessed exactly what we often discuss -

In Japan, residents had less than 30 minutes to flee the earthquake and tsunami. Thousands are likely dead as the water rushed at hundreds of miles per hour through the cities.

This is a terrible tragedy, but also a great learning opportunity - built a BOB and have it ready to move/flee the area.

Maybe build a personal BOB for you to carry, and have a trunk in the garage filled with more stuff you can through in the car if you think you can take the car/truck.

I have a BOB list on my personal laptop, but not on this one. I think I've posted it here before. But in my view a personal BOB should weigh under 70 lbs for fit person, or much less. You should be able to carry it all day without much issue. You must have water, a water purifier system, electronic copies of all important documents, all weather clothing/water resistant clothing that is lightweight and durable, a lightweight shelter, and some high energy foods, a knife, a firearm and some ammo, some lightweight 550 cord, and some other survival gear.

I'm thinking a modular system would be perfect. Say a really light absolute survival system, maybe 15 lbs. That can be inserted into a larger internal frame backpack, weighing say 50-60lbs. And then a trunk you can toss in your car that has a couple hundred pounds of gear.

What are others' BOB ideas?

My importent papers are in a fireproof box I can grab and run with. The GHB/BOB are in the cars. IN less than ten minutes I can load up complete supplies for 30 days (other than water which I have Katadyn and Polar Pur to take care of) and gear to survive here in the Georgia woods for virtually as long as I need to. Within an hour-2 hours I have multiple BOLs including relatives, friends and National Forests.

I am not worried.

I think you're spot on about the fitness part. Many people talk extensively about their BOBs and the dozen guns they'll be carrying but fail to take into account the fact that they're too fat/old to haul that stuff around for more than a few minutes, much less an all day walk in the hot sun.
