Building a 2011

Does anyone have any experience building 2011 style pistols ? Parts , Brands , suppliers to use or avoid ? Fitting parts , tuning magazines ? Any information would be greatly appreciated . Contemplating my next upcoming project . Wanting to step up a level or two .

Any good 1911 smith can help you on a 2011, no difference in the internals except the trigger. Personally, I use prefitted ignition kits from Wilson or Cylinder and Slide as a starting place.
Start out with good magazines. I bought my 2011, STI, from Dawson Precision with 4 magazines and it has run perfectly.

I've built single stacks but no double.

May want to try https://www.1911forum.com/forums/gunsmithing-troubleshooting.18/ There are several expert 1911 smiths on that site.

2011's are not really standardized as far as parts which makes it more difficult to figure which parts to use.

The 1911 forum Blue68F100 linked you to is definitely the place to start.

For a first build you would probably find a single stack a much easier project.
