Greetings and happy easter here folks.

An easter deal caught my eyes from PSA, 308 lower for $95, and found this to pair up with it.;
http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-10/psa-pa10-18-ss-mid-length-rifle-kit.html

So i have a few questions about this build since I'm out of the AR game for quite some time.

1. The buffer tube provided: I would want a longer, static stock - like an A2 for example. Is the tube provided would be good enough or do i need to get an A2 stock with tube? I seem to remember magpul has a static stock for a carbine length buffer tube with spacer. Will that product fit?
https://www.magpul.com/products/moe®-fixed-carbine-stock-1

2. IF i do need to get A2 size tube, what about the buffer and spring on the inside of the tube? do i need to change it out too?

3. Is there such thing a milspec on 308 lowers? The one I got is compatible with magpul pmags/ SR25 i think. So if i want the new tube, any commercial A2 tube will fit, just need the 308 spring and buffer?

Thanks a bunch. This will be a range toy, preferrably 200 yds or more. Not gonna be a "high speed" or anything, that's why i prefer a static stock to minimize rattle, etc.

Thanks !

There are no Mil-spec AR10's. Each brand uses it's own platform,so make sure of what you want to buy before you pay for it.
The PSA is built on the DPMS platform,so anything that will work on a DPMS LR series rifle will work on it.
You will need an A2 buffer tube,and then you will need a 308 buffer spring and buffer for it.

I just finished a psa ar10. I bought their blemed lower and the 18 inch stainless barrel upper rifle kit. The castle nut was missing from the kit. I robbed one from my other stuff and finished the build. PSA sent me a nut no problem. The rifle shoots great with no malfunctions. The fit between the upper and lower was quite sloppy though. It does not affect accuracy but I cannot stand the loose rattle. It is a combination of the pins holes in the lower not being tight and the clearance too large on the lower. Some jb weld and a little hand fitting and it is tight as my factory RR rifles now. A complete ar10 for less than $800 is kind of neat. It is currently shooting 1.5 inches at 100yds with some undersize bullets.

PSA Build

I have built a few of these guns. The biggest complaint I have is with the BCG. I think they are having some issues with the ejector/extractor set up. You really want to be sure this is the platform you want to work with before you start buying parts. I replaced my M4 style collapsible with an A2. I did have to replace the spring and buffer (Midway). After working with gun a while, it seems to be a very dependable shooter. I really haven't had a chance to check the accuracy past 25 yards (That is all I can get on my property), but I am getting nice 1.5 - 2 inch groups with a variety of ammo. This is out of the 18" mid length upper. I recently added a JP adj gas block and am toying with the gas to see how much I can tone down the full bore from the factory (obviously the spring and buffer will play a role in the timing as well - I will keep you all posted.) Good luck!

Pa 10

As Casefull mentioned, a sub $800 AR 308 is sweet! They currently have the complete gun on sale for 729-739 plus shipping. Then you will need a couple of mags and a rear sight.... Still a deal in my book.
