Bull vs. sporter

    This is probably showing my ignorance, but, what are the advantages, if any, to having a bull barrel on a hunting rifle if 2-3 shots is the most you will ever make in a single string. In my mind the only advantage of a heavy barrel over a sporter is that the increased surface area would dissipate heat quicker. With the obvious disadvantage of weight. Let me know what you think.

    unless you are doing a lot of bench shooting or competition, I see no advantage of the bull or varmint , over a pencil/sporter bbl. If you are doing light paper punching, or mostly hunting, go with the thin bbl. I would.
