Two questions for you all.

I'm using a Lee classic Turret with pacesetter dies including the factory crimp.

.243 win, rem brass, full length resized, length checked and trimmed if needed. Chamfer and deburred.

After seating the bullet i'm seeing small shavings of copper from the bullet at the top of the case.

Also when I use the factory crimp die should I see the 4 gaps close fully? I can't tell if the factory crimp is doing anything. Raised the shell holder up and screwed in the die until it touched the shell holder, then went 1/2 turn more and locked it in per the Lee instructions.

If I adjust the die until the 4 gaps close fully I get 4 lines from the crimp on the case.

How can you tell if the crimp is good?

Thanks again for the help.

Use a campfer/deburring tool to break the sharp edge of the case mouth before seating the bullet.
Oh, I see you are!
Just maybe not enough?

Don't use the FCD, as you do not need to crimp any .243 Win ammo for any reason.

I readjusted the bullet seating die and not using the fcd.

Seating die was touching the shell holder and then turned 1/4 more. It was crushing the case at the neck. I backed out the seating die until the case came out fine. Now I have about 1/8th gap between the shell holder and die. Is this ok?

Cases are just under the 2.045 max case length. Should I have trimmed these back more?

If you are using Lee dies for seating and they are touching the shell holder you have set up your die wrong. Check your instructions again. The die should touch the case mouth the be adjusted from there. Turn your die in if you need to crimp. Or back it out 1/4 turn for no crimp. Once your die us set then you can adjust your seating depth from there.

The fcd and resizing die are set up by touching the shell holder but not the seating die. I have crushed enough cases that now I remember the difference most the time...
