Bullets?

It's not flaming or being all superior if you politely correct the terminology in order to avoid confusion.

I noticed some replied giving info about "bullets," and others gave info about "ammo" (loaded rounds). That could be misleading and confusing to the OP.

StiKiller--

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll have a good time here and learn a lot. The guys who corrected your terminology are trying to be helpful. If you go into a gun shop and ask for bullets, that's what you'll get, only bullets. They will probably think you're a reloader. What you're talking about is ammo, which just about everybody understands to mean complete cartridges, ready to shoot. Usually, we don't buy ammo by the "size," but by caliber. Your ammo's full name is forty caliber (.40) Smith & Wesson. But, all handgun shooters will know what you mean if you just say, "forty." So, just go in to your local gun store and say, "Hey, guys, hook me up with a couple boxes of forty." However, if you are buying from WalMart, that may not work. The guy behind the sporting goods counter might be on loan from the produce department. Even my regular guy is too stupid to find the ammo I always get. So, I have to eyeball it and direct him to it.

If you just want range ammo for practice, it's hard to beat WalMart if you're getting a few boxes at a time. Prices have been going up lately, so I can't give you a real current price, but it will probably be better than range prices. Yes, the Winchester "white box" is what a lot of us use for inexpensive practice ammo. Normally, handgun ammo comes 50 rounds to a box, but Wally World sometimes carries boxes of 100, which give a little price break. The premium personal protection ammo often comes in smaller boxes of 20 or 25 rounds.

Have fun and be safe.

Walmart, online, gun shows.

Fortunately, last time I went shooting, I had the pleasure of being invited to try out some "Engineering Samples" from acquaintances who work for ATK

Who's ATK you ask...

Corporate Overview
ATK is a leading provider of advanced weapon and space systems with $3.4 billion in annual sales, approximately 15,000 employees, and operations in 22 states. The company is the world’s leading supplier of solid rocket motors and the nation’s largest manufacturer of ammunition.

Who's ATK you ask...

Yeah, they operate the Lake City ammo plant. All us AR guys would give our left gonad to have a few cases of new production M193.

Thank you thank you everyone for the very helpful information, I called a local walmart here, and they have the Winchester white box for 17.98/100 round, does that sound like the right figure? I think i'm going to buy quite a few so I don't have to go back too often~ Also, does or can Walmart give a bigger discount if you purchase a large large quantity? Thanks again!

Try Cabelas.com. I've used their .38 and .357 and they worked fine. I also killed my first deer yesterday with their bulk .270. They also come in a nice plastic ammo can.
