Burris FastFire on a CZ-75

First off, Burris does not make a mount for a CZ pistol. I bought the Novak mount and modified it. The stock CZ sight at the widest point is .383"; the Novak was .410".

What amazes me is, for the first time in years, I can see the sight and the target perfectly. Wow. I think I could get used to this. I'm going to try it out this weekend and report back.

The Burris sight appears to be a quality item, but the proof is in the pudding.

What kind of a CZ-75 is that anyway? It looks like a pre-B but it has a pin for the firing pin block in it. Is it one of the Retro models?

the newer style trigger guard is there if you turn your monitor brightness up... it's an SP-01.

I understand it is the transitional model, rounded trigger guard, spur hammer (has a comp hammer now) with the FPB. No "B" designation on the slide either. Picked it up for $350.00, what a deal. Super shooter.

I have removed the FPB on this one and have it stored in a little zip lock baggie.

No. I can reinstall the original sight and return it to 100%. I modified the burris mount only.

i dream of slapping one on one of my spare 40b slides and shoot it with a very minor 135grn jhp for steel slapping.

Would you mind posting some pics from the top and rear views? I'm just wondering how the red dot width compared to the slide. I'd love to do the same setup. It's so cool. Also, would you elaborate on what MOD you did to the Novak mount to fit CZ 75? Some range report as well, perhaps?

IceGoal I had a similar set up as schmeky has on his CZ. Instead of the Burris I had a Doctor mount. That type of sight really needs to be set down in the slide. My Doctor sight sat high like smeckys Burris. The problem I had was when I looked through the sight I couldn't co-witness the front sight. I would bring up the gun to shoot and I wouldn't have the gun pointed perfectly and I would lose sight of the dot. Now if the sight is sitting lower you are less likely to lose the dot. You will be able to co-witness the top of the slide or the front sight to help you out. Mark

How is the dot on the Fastfire Smecky? I have an Ultra Dot of similar construction and I like it, but am in need of another and was wondering if the Fastfire's dot is any better. The UD L/T is good, but has some starburst to it. I also have a JP red dot that is similar. It is not mounted on anything right now. The UD L/T is nicer by a good bit.

Yep. I know the feeling. I used to think red dots on pistols were a pox, but since my eyes have betrayed me they are the only way I can shoot up to my potential. I can shoot blurry fixed sights pretty well, and a little better with 1X reading glasses (which make the target a little fuzzy), but I simply cannot match using a red dot where I can tell exactly where I am aiming.

I looked at a Fastfire at the toy store, amazingly clear and distortion free. I'm trying to decide between the battery operated Fastfire and the new battery free Trijicon RMR Reflex for an upcoming Glock 34.
The RMR Glock mount is supposed to be out very soon.
I think I'll get the Fastfire, I can always move it to my Mark II.

I liked it, but didn't shoot it as much as I thought I would. I sold it to a super great guy in San Diego. I still might do it again one day, it's pretty easy to modify the novak cut mount to fit.
