Which do you prefer? My first thought was to go with the butt cuff, but now that I think about it, it seems like a more nature motion to reload from the belt. The rifle I am using is a Ruger No. 1.

Edit: If you have a particular brand you like, please mention that also.

I like a butt cuff for hunting. I think you would get used to either style, but when it's freezing out it's nice to have something insulate your cheek from a cold bit of wood.

put a shell between your ring and middle fingers for a quick follow up

i use pockets

I don't suspect a need for REALLY quick follow up shots with my 30-06 T/C Encore, so I carry extra rounds on my belt. I figure it'd be a bit faster from the stock, though. :)

butt cuff is so far superior, the only advantage to the belt is , it holds more rounds. the other is lighter, tighter, barely adds weight, doesn't hang up on anything, you never wonder where it is, you grab without looking and waa laa!! there's a bullet in your hands!!! magic.

As far as butt cuffs go, has anyone ever used one by Kirkpatrick Leather? Would 375 H&H and 45-70 use the same size holders, as they have similar base diameters?
