Buying one you don't need, but want!

I love steel shooting. I’ve done pretty well, but I’m not the best, even locally.

Last spring, I saw a guy at the Nationals in Titusville, FL with a gun I wanted. He had an STI SteelMaster.

It was cool.

When I took my turn at the prize table, I picked a package that included a grip frame for the STI 2011 guns. When I asked around to see who had the best deals and service on STI guns, I was told to deal with Dawson Precision. I called them.

Many months (and many dollars) later, my gun arrived.

It’s cool. Shoots real well, too.

I bought a TargetMaster through DP about a year and a half ago and they're my go to guys, and will be for my Edge....

Dawson is awesome. First class operation. I love how you can order a gun from them, then have them do whatever you want to it, before you ever receive it -- and it doesn't have to be competition stuff. I bought my EMP from dawson, and they did a full action / reliability job on it before shipping it to me. I couldn't be happier with it.

I've got many toys that will perform better in the hands of masters than they will in mine. I still enjoy them, hope they will encourage me to perform up to their level, and always hope for the day for a master to take my toy(s) and show me (hopefully teach me) what they're actually capable of.

Nice looking gun! Once the bills are paid and a reasonable amount is put away for retirement, money is for spending on something that puts a smile on your face!

Think about it this way: someone who buys a $8 coffee every weekday will spend just over $2k per year on fancy coffee. It's just choosing where you put the money.

Unless I'm mistaken, a Steelmaster is normally available just in 9 mm. If it's a custom, it's anyone's guess.

The SteelMaster is in 9mm. They don't offer other calibers and I'm perfectly happy with that.

Phil, I already have a CRSpeed holster that I was using with my CZ75 SA in Limited. I love the CRSpeed. I also have one for my S&W 327 8-shooter.

The C-More sight came with an 8 minute dot which is great for fast shooting on SC targets. Not so good for shooting tiny groups, but that's not what the gun's for.

I was a little concerned that the gun might not function with the light loads I usually shoot. On the last shot from the first mag, the slide didn't lock back. After that, no problems at all.

BTW, I got three 20 rnd mags with the gun.

Find out what speed the comp runs at and you won't want your "light" loads---ever again .
Probably around 13-1400'/sec it'll be a NO FLIP, no sight pic loss flat shooter.

I'm just a C class, old guy, CZshooter; but I UNDERSTAND want. WANT isn't restricted to class.
You may move up faster now.

After you've got a decent weapon for home defense and/or hunting you don't actually need anything else...I only needed the first couple of firearms that I bought but I didn't let that stop me.

The gun, including the comp, was designed for light-to-medium pressure steel competition loads. The recoil spring is surprisingly light. Using hot, high-pressure loads in this gun would be a mistake.
