I'd like an AR in 7.62x39 but not if I can only have 10 round mags. Might be now or never, so my question is does the new C-Products 30 round AR15 7.62x39 mags they currently have for sale on their web site actually work?

Would changing a 5.56mm AR over to 7.62x39mm involve a whole new upper besides the magazines, or could it be done with a barrel change and new mags?

You'd need to change the barrel, bolt, and mags; on an AR its going to be a lot easier to just replace the whole upper.

I don't own any of those mags, but the early ones got mixed reviews and some were confirmed to have out of spec feed lips. Whether all the problems have been worked out yet, I don't know.

The last/latest batch (shipped about a month ago) is working fine for me.

Anyone know if you can use a 7.62x39 upper and bolt carrier group to convert to 5.45x39 by swapping out the barrel?

I seem to recall that the rim diameter is different for the 5.45x39 round.
