I applied online for the ATF to send me C&R forms. This was over 6 weeks ago. Does it normally take that long???

I still don't have them. Has anyone applied this year? How long has it taken you to receive them?

They may be backlogged.

I sent my renewal in about 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back yet.

And the REAL C&R pain will come when your spouse see's how much money you're spending on nice MILSURP guns! ;)

I sent my request in December and then again in February. I got them around Feb 15th. I sent it about 4 days later. I got my license on April 11th. Not too bad once you get the application.

Mine took about a month and a half to come through, but that was about 18 months ago. I'm guessing like everything else firearms related, there's been a rush on C&R applications and they're running behind.

I too was worried about the time.. took about 2 months to receive the application haven't got it back in yet

Same thing happened to me. The ATF hasn't updated there information like they should and you most likely sent the documents to Atlanta and not West Virginia...

Took me about 3 months to get mine because of that incident, but I did get it.

You can no longer download the application for a C&R license from the ATF website.

As I understand it these old forms are no longer being accepted by the ATF.

On the website you are advised to have the new application form mailed to you and use the form you are mailed.

You must have the new form. It took me something like 3 months to get a form. But it only took 3 weeks to get the license after I mailed it in. This was earlier this year.

Took me over a month to get the forms (which you now have to order online, free of charge), and I filed about 5 weeks ago now and am still waiting to hear back. Must be a backlog. Sucks too, I'm really worried all the sub-$200 CZ82s are going to sell out before I get it.

c & r application form ?

:barf:I am having the samr problem been waiting since 12/08 for forms
I fount out today that a private contractor sends out the forms not the ATF:mad:
anyone have an application theycan e mail me?

Give your closest ATF office a call. The person you get on the phone will likely send them right out and you'll have 'em next day, or the day after.

Whenever you need something from them folks it's best to call and ask for it. I don't think anybody pays attention to email.

No, they will transfer you to the licensing division and they will send out the forms.

Make sure you are sending the forms to the West Virginia address.

Mine took about five weeks...having mailed in paper application forms.

Not bad really...considering...

FYI update...

I finally received my C&R application.

Applied 3/14...
Order processed 4/27...
Received 5/11...

Hope this helps anyone.

This may help somebody out there gauge their wait time.

My C&R renewal application was sent in, a few days later the check for was deposited on 3/20, and my renewed FFL 03 arrived today on 5/26, just over nine weeks.

Sent in my renewal on the 9th and they charged my card on the 13th. We'll see how long it takes to show up.

I filled out the thingy on the website and had the paperforms in about a week, got the "So you want to be a collector" letter about 4 days later. really quick response, but that was before Obama, so they might be a little back logged now.

Guys,
No reason to wait on that super efficient Govt for these forms. Some nice folks at CALGUNS fixed this for us. You can down load and fill out the new ATF 7CR form here. So far a number of people have gotten their C&R using it.

Also rember the new ATF mailing address for the form is the West Virgina one in small print at the very bottom of page 4 (as it used to be Atlanta, Ga).

rklessdriver:

Thanks for posting that.

I have wanted to get my C&R for the past 8 years. For a variety of reasons I won't bore you with, I kept deciding to wait.

Decided a few weeks ago to make the plunge and ordered my forms. Forms aren't here yet...

Filled out and mailed my app and my CLEO letter using the PDF tonight.

First time California has done something useful for me :neener:

I'll have to register over at calguns and thank those folks!
