I checked my "local" Cabelas yesterday for SPP and as usual they were OOS and hadn't had any in a couple of weeks. The same employee I see regularly stated that primers had gone up to $89 from $79(SPP/SRP) since the last time I bought a brick two months ago. This Cabelas is also limiting to 1 brick per customer if you're lucky enough to catch them in stock. Fortunately a friend gave me 3K Federal LPM I had no use for so I consigned them with a LGS who sold them for $100/1000ct. I went to LGS to pick up $240 after he got his 20% and noticed he had 2K Winchester SPP on the shelf on an estate consignment. I gave LGS his $200 back and left with the 2K SPP and $40 in my pocket. I'm too old to be patient for prices to come down so I can live with 10 cent primers.

buy what you need to have fun man!

I have not resorted to selling primers at the LGS, but I have traded some for what was needed.

More accurately, I have provided some needed primers to friends in exchange for other primers. A buddy needed some SPP, I have enough but am slightly short of SRP. Even up swap.
Same for my LPP and another guys' LRP.

Win-win, and nobody's taking a cut.

I've bought some and traded some, but haven't sold any either. I'm not above selling things I don't need or want and even making a few $ here and there, but even my "extra" primers will have to be replaced someday. So they're worth more to me than what they'd sell for and they're not eating anything.

That was my original idea but personally know very few reloaders. Listed them here for swap but had to be FTF since I won't ship illegally. I like my little LGS and they've treated me well before so I don't mind if he makes a few bucks out of the deal. He hasn't charged me for a transfer yet.

if he hasn’t charged you for a transfer then give the guy some business. that a bunch of money you saved. Here is Seattle my local charges $30 per transfer and thats a good price too

I scored a lot of primers this past spring/summer at the local BP, back when they were $40-$45 per K for CCI SPP and SRP. Only 1K per day per person (wife would sometimes come with, so we'd get 2K). Took some time, but built up a pretty good inventory on them. I did sell some to one good friend, but only 2K. No profit, sold it for what I paid.

Seems like primers have become harder to get now, for whatever reason. That has surprised me. I figured they would continue to become easier to get, once they started showing up again. I'm not buying at the current prices, but still check anytime I'm in BP. I did see some recently. CCI was $70 per K, Fed blue box was at $80. Sure looking forward to the day when you can walk in anytime and find them on a shelf. Seems that may be a ways off in the future though.

I "found" several thousand small pistol primers in a box of stuff given to me by a friend. I have plenty for now so I've been trading them for shotshell primers. The going is slow but having some success. I saw prices everywhere from $60 to $120.
