Hello all.

Tomorrow im taking a trip to Cabelas to shop for a new toy.

Has anybody ever purchased a hendgun from there before ??
If so how was the service ??
Are prices neg ??

I can tell you that the Cabela's in Ft. Worth here in Texas is huge. That's where I bought my gun, the service was good. The store was crowded so getting to the gun counter is kind of a challenge. But once your there the people treat you great! The only part about buying the gun that took a long time was filling out the ATF form. Once your done that it's 5 minutes and your out the door with your new firearm!!

Note: Some of their items are way overpriced. But overall I feel they are fare with their pricing.

2nd Note: Even if you don't buy anything Cabela's is definitely worth your afternoon, my kids love going there and even my wife who has no interest in guns at all loves to go there.

Here's What To Expect............

Cabelas charges dam near MSL price for most firearms (sometimes a $50 off here and there)

They WILL price match as follows:
- firearm is IN STOCK in a shop within "50-miles" of Cabelas>
- talk to the manager.

I looked for a Kahr PM 9 -DLC back in Nov..Cabelas wanted $700 for it. :what:

I shopped around and found the same for $590 (DnR Sports in Nanticoke - 62 mi away on mapquest)

The clerk tell me the 50-mile rule - reluctantly - they dont like to share that info!

I tell them - I know what I want - I'l drive for the $100+ savings.
Cabelas is a 5 min drive for me--DnR is an hour - its their sale to lose--what ya gonna do?.

The gun manager verifies in stock with DnR - makes the sale shaking his head at the great price :D

P.S.
You're nuts to gun-shop toda---every tourist w/ an urge is gonna be there today - DO NOT PURCHASE ANY FIREARM OFF THE SHELF - lots of dry-fire commandos there. They all have trigger locks but I've seen too many yahoos click away after removing the lock.

Your best bet is too go there for the hands-on - then order from your local shop--------------------

I needed the PM9 - trip and a match (pocket-gun class) so no time for the local guy-- my bad

I've been to the one in PA and last week went to opening day at the new store in Buda, TX. They had some pretty good prices on used guns, and if I needed help there was never any trouble finding an employee who could answer my questions. I just browsed the new guns, didn't buy any, but they were more than happy to show me anything I wanted to hold.

If you've never been be prepared to spend several hours walking around the store.

Careful with that Cabelas near Fort Worth. It is very large. Bigger than any Bass Pro I've been in. It's like Disney World for men and will drain your wallet just as quick. I personally would have more fun at Cabelas than Disney. :D

They just opened a Cabela's in Buda (just outside of Austin, TX) last Thursday. Doors open at 8 AM, and the news reported people lining up as early as 3 AM to be first through the door.

I think I'll wait a while for the crowds to thin . . . especially since I heard the malicious morons of TXDOT decided to close the exit closest to the store in the name of traffic control.

I've found that 'good' major chains are more expensive than the local gun show but not horrific.

For example, a Glock 19 at the show will go for $459 and at the reasonable chain for $499.

A SW 642 for $349 and maybe $10 cheaper at the show.

I got a PM9 for $499 at the gun show.

The one up here will haggle. I saw a rifle in their used rack I really wanted but told him the price was a bit high. He went and brought out the Blue Book to show me they were under the recommended for that grade, but he thought they could drop it a bit more. I ended up not buying it, but I know that they are open to suggestion.

Heck, at Bass PRo when I told them I could get a better price on something somewhere else they to me to go by there and pick it up on my way home. Of course, they will price match (at least they did when I worked there briefly). I should have asked for the manager, but his tone made me mad enough that I went somewhere else to by my e-collar. Haven't really been back either.

Score

"SCORE"

I just got back from Cabelas and i didnt come empty handed.

I went up there for the XD-40. The srvice from the first guy wasnt great. He kinda blew me off when i asked to see a 2nd gun.

So i went to the next guy. I tell him i called Cabelas yesterday to make sure they had what I wanted in stock. So i find what im looking for & the price was $479.99 with 2 10 round mags. Well next to this gun was the same thing for $469.99. So I ask what is the difference between the 2 & he says the cheaper one has 2 HI-CAP mags. [ pay $10.00 less for HI-CAP mags ].

So I tell him I want the Cheaper gun and he goes in the back to get it. He comes back empty handed & says " we only have 1 left & its the display model :banghead: ". So I tell him I wanna look some more. I tell my wife I will buy it if they knock off $20.00 from the price. So I call him over & give him the lowdown. He tells me "sorry but I cant do that, but I know some times we give 5% discount for display gun sales".

HA HA, thats more than $20.00 off so I buy it.

So i payed $478.49 total.

:cuss: The worst part was they walk you to the door & wait till you get outside to give me the bag. :cuss:
I DIDNT LIKE THAT

gunbroker sucks

Thats funny. I tried to order it from Bracks in mount joy & he tried to charge me $475 FOR IT PLUS I HAD TO PAY FOR SHIPPING & THE PAPERWORK. I even sent him a link of the list price & he still tried to burn me. list price was $449.97

I almost did it but then I thought about Cabelas & gave them a call. Im glad i did.

Why would I want to buy a gun on the net when I can go to the store & buy it & take it home with me ???

i went to Cablela's yesterday in Buda.

their prices weren't the greatest, in fact, some were downright wrong.

i saw a Century Arms CETME for $950. yes, you can buy 3 CETME's for less than $950. the label said, "1 of 500." 1 of 500 what i don't know.

i also heard the rumor that the Cabela's exit would be closed. however, i drove by on Friday evening and yesterday afternoon and the "Cabela's Way" exit was wide open and free-flowing.

Went to the one in Ft Worth last Saturday. Man that place is so sweet! I picked up a bunch of Wolf 7.62x39 for $1.99 per 20.

My wife and I hit Cabelas in Fort Worth the other weekend.

I was looking for a deal on some reloading components for 45 ACP. No go there, they were to high on their price.

They did however have a screaming deal on S&B 45, $8.99 a 50. We cleared their shelf of it! :neener: :neener:
