On Nov. 2nd, Prop59 passed with an overwhelming 83% approval rate, second only to Prop1A.

It beefed up the Public Records Act.

Now the other shoe drops. We were planning this back on this thread:

http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=102840&perpage=999

It took me an extra day but I got all 28 PRARs done, printed on a high-end color laser and mailed out. Two are actually unconnected to CCW. Suggestions on yet more PRARs welcome.

At the moment this stuff is in Adobe Acrobat format; for a free reader app (Mac and PC available) go to:

CCW PRARs

First, we have the one going to the California DOJ:

http://www.equalccw.com/prardojpublic.pdf

Then we have the one that goes to local sheriffs/police chiefs:

http://www.equalccw.com/prarccwlocal.pdf

Both make reference to specific elements of the California state-standard CCW form; for a proper copy of that, see also:

http://www.equalccw.com/ca_ccw_app.pdf

The "local" version of the PRAR was done in MS-Word mail-merge; to see the database of which local agencies got hit, see also:

----------------------------

Other stuff

We hit the SF Sheriff's office with a PRAR that they're really going to hate. It has nothing to do with CCW (we already have proof they're "zero issue").

Last year, some SF NRA Member's Council guys learned that Cow Palace gun show protesters were just ordinary folks working off "community service time" through a non-profit "charity" called "Brothers Against Guns". BAG later showed up as a supporter of Jackie Spieir's Cow Palace gun show ban bill (SB1733).

On the theory that letting grabbers feed off the puplic trough is a bad idea, I intend to deliver some pain :). Hence this:

http://www.equalccw.com/prarsfpublic.pdf

Read it an weep, "Brothers".

Oh, and if you think these clowns aren't dirty as hell, read all about the 2nd in command who died in a shootout while wanted for murder by the SFPD:

http://www.equalccw.com/brothersagainstgunsevidence.pdf

Can you say "criminals in favor of gun control"?

:fire:

I don't think this will be as big as the MMM thing of a couple years back but hey, who knows? I *really* want to see that list of 2000(!?) non-profit agencies tapping into this "free labor pool".

Aaaanyways.

Last up, somebody wrote to my bosses in Bellevue asking about certain old documents on "Assault Weapons" from California circa late '80s, early '90s. He was interested in these for the Illinois AW ban debate happening in their legislature now.

I couldn't find the documents online, but I found references to an intriguing string of documents apparantly written at a time when the California DOJ was one HELL of a lot more pro-self-defense than they are now!

Hence this PRAR to DOJ:

http://www.equalccw.com/prarawdoj.pdf

If they say "we don't got this stuff", that alone will be interesting...it means the new Dem AG and his staff threw out old documents supporting a political position they're against. :scrutiny:

OK, who else wants some? :D

Awesome work Jim!
I would love to help but am a legal dummy.
I see your website is in need of a re-design. I would be honored if I could redesign it for you and make it a destination for people. PM me if interested. I can show you some recent work.

Yeah, the main site is next :).

It's getting a TOTAL re-vamp this weekend. Lemme take a first crack, then we can talk from there.

Great job Jim! I wish you were here in Michigan to raise h@ll, but California needs you. Let 'em have it!

The momentum is on our side at the moment. Good to see someone pushing our advantage. If we can fix California the rest of the country should fall into step. Thanks again for all your efforts Jim. You make the world a better place!

way tp go Jim,I needed good news today!

I'm up a creek with out a paddle in my personal life so it's good to see that sunlight is creeping in through the darkness of the peoples dictatatorship

I seem to have a general ignorance or lack of attention with this issue.

Are you (or "Catalina") saying that the courts are sentencing people to work for certain community organizations deemed as worthy by those same courts? And this "service" to the organization is the court ordered "Fine"?
http://www.equalccw.com/prarsfpublic.pdf

I sense this may be a statewide issue rather than centered in SanFran. If they can get away with it there, why not elsewhere?

The District Attorney(s) agree with this practice?
The State Attorney General, what's his name? Lockyear agrees with this practice?

Do we know of any statewide orgs emanating from SanFran stinking up the courts in other areas of California?

I understand that getting the list is what the PRAR is about but there must have been something more than a conversational BS flag being triggered.

Rather than a monetary fine, I could have done community service work for the MMM, kerry for president or something just as distasteful?

Yup. See also:

Well the same program is also active in some parts of Alameda County.

But beyond that, determining community service sentences is very seldom "farmed out" to a non-profit which determines the type of community service.

That's pretty weird.

The District Attorney(s) agree with this practice?

Read:

http://www.equalccw.com/brothersagainstgunsevidence.pdf

Note how the founder of "Brothers Against Guns" was part of the SF DA's campaign staff. While hiring a known gang leader and suspected murderer as paid staff.

:scrutiny:

The State Attorney General, what's his name? Lockyear agrees with this practice?

Dunno. First step is to get more details. Hence the PRAR.

Do we know of any statewide orgs emanating from SanFran stinking up the courts in other areas of California?

Once we have the list of the 2000 "non profits", we can check for them elsewhere...

I understand that getting the list is what the PRAR is about but there must have been something more than a conversational BS flag being triggered.

Some of the SF-NRA-MC people in San Francisco notices that the protestors in front of the gun show seemed decidedly...uninterested. Like they were "going through the motions". They assumed at first that these were hired homeless (a common socialist protest trick) and were blown away when the protesters themselves admitted to being community service sentencees.

Rather than a monetary fine, I could have done community service work for the MMM, kerry for president or something just as distasteful?

Vick

This is San Francisco we're talking about. "Distasteful" could get pretty freakin' wild. How much you wanna bet "community service" could have involved "service" at the Folsom Street Fair in leather bondage gear whipping people's bare rumps?

:uhoh:

(And yes, I think that's quite possible if we dig far enough...)

:scrutiny:

OK, we've got some improvements on my page so far...not all done, gotta edit the FAQ yet, but we've now got a whole new page on this PRAR process and some cleanup on the home page.

Jim, please keep up the good work. Seems like lots of the looneytunes governmental abuses start out on the west coast and, like a virus, spread throughout the land.
