I think with an 18" some what heavy barrel with 2/3rd mag tube, box and papers like new...

A New Haven Win on the left side of the barrel.
    Butt-pad 'winchester'.
    Angle Eject.

the 2/3rd's mag tube was an eye catcher and the rifle is like new...

I've searched two auction gun site's, lots of auctions and NOT one has the 'shorter' barrel with a 2/3rds mag tube...

A chance anyone may have a more incite on this rifle...?

My brother-N-law bought it for $435.00

Since this the 94AE (1982), the cross bolt safety dates from 1992-2006. The closest thing I see in the Blue Book is the model 94 PACK RIFLE featuring a 3/4 length magazine of 4 or 5 round capacity. It had a 18" barrel was offered in .30-30 and .44 Rem. Mag. in 2000 and 2001 only. There was also a TIMBER SCOUT offered in 2005-2006 which may be another possibility.

If your specimen does not have the safety the answer lies in the 1992 or prior range.
