its always been natural to be at camp with a gun. in fact, it became a regular deal. when i was younger, we would go hunting for about 3 weeks at a time, and the area we were in (even if the Game and Inland fisheries denies it) had cougars transplanted to help take care of some game over population (i'll see if i can get the pictures from our game cameras) and you would hear them at night which made us all hold on to those guns alittle tighter. its actually became such a big part of a having a fire, that when me and my wife were engaged, i was at a cook out at her parents that turned into all of us sitting around a fire after dark, and i felt the explicit need to have my 30-30 on me and so got it out of the truck and went back to sitting around the fire. when asked why i had it, my best spur of the moment reply was, "well, i saw a coon earlier and if he comes back im gonna get it." they were alittle unsettled at first, but needless to say, they now know that around a fire, i will have my rifle.
