a friend use to make fun of my 17hmr rifle and said i couldn't drop him @ 100 yards because by the time the bullet reached 100 yards, it would feel like a grain of rice hitting him.. it was the best joke from him ever. :what::evil::evil::evil:

Shoot him to prove your point.

JK, I jest. While it won't have much pep left shot placement is key, an eye shot with a pellet rifle will drop someone (not likely a kill shot, but they won't be theatening you any more)...agreed? FWIW, at 100yds. the .17HMR still has the energy of a standard/high velocity .22LR at muzzle, which is lethal with a good center mass shot.

:)

I witnessed a MS20427-6-12 shot from an air-nozzle floor a guy at 80yards - hit him below the belt.
Shoot a watermelon with that guy present, see what he thinks.

+1 on the melon, I think that will prove the point.
Don't be friends with MORONS.

i'll just tell him to never test his theory even up against a 22 short... i wonder if this is why some people got killed with rimfire rifles because they think it's a little pesky round... yeah, morons.

Oh My!
Take him critter hunting with you, kill one at a 100 plus, you & he do a bit of "autopsy",
then ask him again!

aw, half an atom couldn't make THAT big of a mess

easily...lessee...
a 17 or 20 grain, ballistic tip bullet(see 'exploding') going at least 2000 fps still at 100 yds, with over 130 lbs of energy, very ouchy!!!

the 17hmr loses a lot of energy by the time it reaches 100 yards. It's not exactly self-defense material. Could it kill? Certainly. But it probably wouldn't.

I figure that a heart or head shot would easily be ruinacious. Noob Shooter, your friend is seriously "All eat up with ignorance."

And this thread is way too silly and irresposible to live...
