Can you put AR15 handguards on an AR180B?

Hmmm. Interesting question. I wish I had enough experience with the AR180B to have an informed opinion.

My guess is not easily, based on my limited handling of a Ar180B at a local shop. However, a little WECSOG may make the swap possible....

My major complaint with the AR-180b is that it doesn't have heat shields in the handguards. Why not? Armalite says that they aren't 'needed' on a semi-auto. Needed? Who cares, I want them. That's just a cost-saving measure.

No, you can't easilly adapt the AR-15 handguards to the AR-18. It'd look really funny anyhow.

Sorry, G.I. - no can put AR-15 handguards on the AR180B. The bottom handguard is semi-permanently attached(you can take it off, but you have to remove the front sight base in order to do so, and then you gotta re-zero after you replace it), and they just fit in a different manner. Theoretically, I could see a gunsmith welding an AR15 delta-ring retainer bracket onto the 180B, but there's so many other issues to resolve that it don't seem worth it to me. If ya wanna hang sumpin' onto an AR180B like a Sure-Fire light or a vertical fore-grip, I'd consider trying a DIY by drilling a few bolt-holes thru the bottom handguard and bolting a Picatinny-rail section underneath; there's enough clearance between the barrel and handguards that you'd have plenty of room for a fastening nut or two.

Badger, if you REALLY want metal heat shields in the AR180B's handguards, you could order a set of AR180 handguards from Numrich Gun Parts Corporation - the older handguards DO have metal heat shields, and I'm pretty sure they'll work.
