im not will to send buckshot flying through the walls of my apartment building. there is two layers of drywall between me and my neighbors on 3 sides, how many layers will buckshot penetrate? is that the same drywall i have? ???

If I was you, I'd atleast consider moving up to squirrel shot! If you worried about 000 buck get #4 buck.

Garand is Fine

Tell ya what... There's a LOT of interpretation to be had on "defensive" and all that.

I like my Garand. I also like my M1 Carbine, my 870, and some lever actions in .357, 44 Mag, and 45 Colt. And my 'pickup truck gun' is an SKS. Come to think of it, my Marlin Camp 9 is in my truck right now along with a 12-guage High Standard riot gun.

One thing I DON'T do is fool myself about their capabilities. Most of them are pretty good at what they were designed for, and "fair to middlin'" at the other jobs. I think a lot of us try to make these things something they're not.

Which is a great reason to have one of everything.
