    Well, Hunting been good, but Im still cameraless, so I orderd my new Irish collage student and his new camera...LOL!!
    Looking for freash meat, from the mountain top we glassed, me and my pard Carl looking for Caribou

    We spotted a Bull about a mile away with a yearling nearby , so we began our sow decent down the mountain and up popped a yearling bull......how nice :D

    After I finnished with him, it was onto the other two, and Carl dropped the other yearling while I ambushed the big guy as he fled through the willows lining the creek Carl shot the Yearling in. Good 200 yard headshot, as he paused to look when emerging from the willows.

    I havent asked the Misquitos how they are doing , but the million or so that sucked my blood must be happy....:D

    They are out there by the pound and by the Ton, and are a great source of protine for those slack jaw'd retards who breath with their mouths wide open...~~LOL!!~~

    The Liver never made it off the mountain in one peice, as we had it for lunch with Kidneys, Coffee and Cinnomon rolls. Mmmmmmmmm......

    fawn meat is tender, and cuts with a fork. Great for kids and old folks with bad teeth.:D


    Shopping was good that day, and so was the weather, sunny and +60

    God, what I'd give for 60s. How long before the next front? 4 months?! SHEESH!

    BTW, you got a camp stove or eat that liver raw? I don't see a lot of firewood out there, LOL! Bear poop, perhaps?

    Ditto the ideal life. I just don't know if I could live that far from a Walmart. ROFL!

    M39 Finn to be exact (as he alluded to).

    Liver in any form is pure nastiness, but the backstrap is a whole nuther story - I'd eat backstrap raw, like Kevin Costner biting into that Bison tongue in Dances with Wolves!

    Nice job - yeah, living the dream is just about right!

    Well, it's nice to have onions to go with it. I make liver about once a week, calves liver. I've always heard to leave the liver and gizzard alone in waterfowl. I've never saved venison or pork liver, cheap at the store, but I reckon if I couldn't buy it, I'd eat what I could take in the wild.

    I had an aunt that liked venison brains. Weird woman.

    when I was a youngin'... all those years ago, all of us boys would go squirrel hunting... after the cleaning was done we would throw the guts and hides in the river, or depending on what time of the year it was, use them for bait for foxes.

    Anyway, long story short... there was an elderly lady that lived on the next farm that would ask us to save the squirrel heads... yup, she would skin those heads and bake them, brains in!

    She had a little brass tack hammer she would crack those heads open and eat the brain...Damn... I can still see her today digging those brains out of the heads we would give her...yikes! :eek:

    I'm sorry guys, but I just aint gonna eat guts... be it liver, kidneys, brains or whatever..:barf:

    Fresh deer liver or calf elk liver is hard to beat, you should try it. I've never had beef liver.

    Brains are guts now? My wife says my brains are under my zipper, but you know how women are. :rolleyes: I don't really care for kidney, but liver is good and good for ya. It's an organ, not guts. Tripas, that's guts. Chitlins. Hey, sausage casing is guts. You eat sausage? :D

    I tried deer liver, after hearing how it was so much better than cow liver, and just the best thing ever. True, it was far more palatable than cow liver, but it would have had to have been on an order of magnitude 500,000 times better than the sheer putrid scourge that is cow liver, so no, it didn't work. Dogs liked it. Deer heart is pretty decent however; it ain't no backstrap, but it's edible. :)

    Are those caribou "blowing coat" for the summer?

    Nice binos - you guys are some hi-tech (Inuit) red-necks eh? (cept for the rifles I guess) :p

    Liver ain't guts, it's organs. And delicious when smother fried with onions, and with brown gravy made from the grease it was cooked in. :)

    Bou,you got me pumped. Just settled all my arrangements for moose in Sep.[fly in,14B] so I was petty fired up already,but those pics really got me going. Is it September yet?

    Raw liver, raw kidneys, Mmmmmmm .........cant have a liver anyway but that and fresh, then its crap.
    Goose livers are the exception to the pasty tastless waterfowl livers.
    Kidneys taste like Cucumbers.

    Anyone who hunts with a Mosin nagant is welcome to hunt with me......or just send the rifle and I'll tell you haw good it really is :D


    We have a ball (or not) , at least twice a week, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on needs, animals weather, motors and how full my house/freezer is...... My small outboard took a dump, so were "landsmen' for now....~~LOL!!~~

    Boats in the arctic? What, no kayak? Well, I have one of each, but the kayak is a sit on top, so I guess it's a southern redneck kayak, not the real thing. :D Besides, it's all plastic.

    All my Mosins are apart and wont be reassembled for quite sometime...bluing one... some modification to the other.

    For all you liver lovers out there... I feel cheated in the fact that I do like to eat, anyone who has ever seen me can attest to that, but I was just NOT made to consume the vile pestilent liver!

    I tried deer liver once.... once!

    Any and all Mosin Nagants are welcome in my camp.:D

    FMJ is legal in Alaska, and I use Czech 147 gr.LPS Silvertip with laquerd steel cases and they do the job VERY well, because they are "tumblers"
    Wicked when they meet bone...~""POOF!""~is the sound you hear when they hit Caribou heads.
    I was smart or lucky, which is more likely, and bought probly a lifetimes worth of ammo three years back when Czeck was 62$ per 800rd case.
    Great stuff, cosistant, accurate and easy on the shoulder with my M-39

    I do have a Kayak, 17 feet, canvas covered, made it myself as about the best bird hunting rig I have....... though its at my Salmon camp and we wont be there till July, its at the Southern side of the Kotzebue sound, with an ocean betwen us, as well as my 20 foot Alumaweld with 115 Evinrudes, my "Big Kayak":D
    Moved back up to Kobuk River this last freezeup, so I had to leave them behind, but soooooooooooooooooon............:D
