I usually carry a ruger p95 while I'm working it spends most of the day locked in my car,as firearms are not allowed. When I'm off i carry the 1911 compact as its on my side all the time. I do park the car in a private parking lot with video surveillance though at work.

Boberg 9mm......like it for the firepower, small compactness, and superb quality of the gun.

At the moment I have a Sig M11-A1 OWB at 4:00 and a P938 in my vest pocket. Just another day at work in Motown.

This thread is bound to get a million different answers:) It'll probably start out informative then turn into a hardware peeing match before degrading into a caliber war with a few terse one line answers punctuated with "'nuff said" coming from the be-all-end-alls of internet gun knowledge...that is if a moderator doesn't lock it before it gets completely silly:evil:

I'm just kidding a bit:)

For me, it totally depends on the situation. There are plenty of days where I like the lightweight firepower of a high capacity 9mm or .40. The FNH flavors are my prefer pieces in that regard since they are so comfy (hammer fired 9mm and striker fired .40)

Other days I like the heft, accuracy, and THUMP of a full size 1911. The size of the pistol isn't usually what keeps me from carrying it, it's the 40oz empty weight. Sometimes, that's just a bit too much for me to carry around all day. It's the most accurate and comfortable pistol I have ever shot. It's a tack driver and I'm not even that good of a shot.

Today, I've got nothing on my person but my general go-to: A 2.25" SP101 in my jacket pocket loaded up with .357. It's comfortable, I shoot it well, and the .357 brings enough gun for most encounters.

I had a P-series gun for a good long time. Loved it:) My buddy swears by his 95 as it is his only gun. Those old Rugers make a dandy car/back-up/home defense gun.

I generally carry a Ruger LCP. Every time I've tried to carry anything bigger my shirts end up catching on the gun when bending down and such and inevitably I end up with an exposed gun.

I still haven't gotten one of the new really slim 9mm's though (LC9, PF-9, CW9, etc) so I'm hoping to be able to carry one of those better IWB.

Pocket - LCP. That is plenty big enough for a pocket. Folks say they carry bigger pistols... Well LCP is plenty in a good pocket holster. Not considering any other pocket gun.

IWB - 9mm Shield. Fine gun. Looking at Kahr MK9 and CZ Rami. Cannot find the RAMI. SR9C ruger one that I find interesting and need to fire again.

OWB - CZ75 P01. Also my favorite pistol. Also would consider a PCR or Compact. Full size 75B as well.

I have been packing a .41 or a .44 S&W revolver for 37 years. Haven't found anything that even comes close to its reliability or level of power. I own a number of .45 ACP 1911s and love them but I would never ever consider using one for a carry gun. I shot IPSC/USPSA competition for about 20 years and saw too many semi auto guns choke in matches. Very expensive custom race guns. Too many opportunities for Murphy to play his game.

Exactly. Very expensive custom race guns with extremely tight tolerances and non-standard parts that choke if they even get slightly dirty or fouled. Which obviously doesn't matter in games...but there is a reason why service pistols have some slop in the way they fit, and there are many reasons why modern autoloaders (not 1911s) are standard service sidearms today.

There is always "that guy" who brings his race gun to a 2 or 3 day defensive handgun class, usually because of the "cool factor" or that he THINKS he needs the hair trigger and longer sight radius to shoot "better". He's usually the one getting extra practice running malf clearing drills once the guns start getting dirty and heating up. Stock pistols from most of the major manufacturers? Generally run without issue, dirty as hell, no less.

Games are games and training is training; expensive/custom does not translate into reliable.

sakata, a tightly fitted pistol where everything is fitted correctly will run just fine. If that were not true Les Baer would have gone out of business a long time ago. There has been a thread running for a while over on the 1911 forum where guys post pictures of their Les Baers and attempt to outdo each other on how many thousands of rounds they have fired without ever cleaning the gun. We're talking unbelievable filth here. They still run just fine as long as they keep them lubed. Those guns are so tight when new most people can barely rack the slide. Tight. I used to build race guns. A gun does not need any"slop" to function reliably. But all of the parts have to work together in perfect time. I have also seen a lot of guns that rattled like a can of rocks but would chew the center out of a bullseye all day long. There is a huge number of factors that dictate reliability (and accuracy) in a semi auto but how tight or how loose it is isn't one of them. I can build you a tight one or a loose one and they'll both run fine. The biggest problems with semi autos are magazines, ammo variations and broken parts.

Depending on mission and attire, I usually carry a G26, a G30, a G36, or a LB SRP 1911. When I get a few more rounds through the Shield 9, it will join the others.

The three Glocks, of course, share a manual of arms. The 1911 is ingrained deeply in my being, having carried and shot them for three decades. The Shield shoots well and hides better.

I don't carry, yet, but I want an inside the waist holster for a sub compact or a snub 38

My EDC is a Keltec PF9 in a DeSantis Sof-tuck IWB holster. If I am in shorts or jeans (still a month or more off) I pocket carry a S&W model 60. Normally with Hornady Critical Defense ammo in them.

They aren't hi tech or hi dollar, but they work.

Can't carry yet in Illinois. But I have trained extensively and have my options laid out and ready.

Main squeeze: Beretta Px4 subcompact in 9mm carried AIWB in a High Noon Hidden Ally

I also have a Colt 1903 Model M in .32 ACP that will be carried AIWB. Ruger LCR for pocket carry as well as a Glock 26 both in High Noon pocket holsters.

The G26 has an ankle holster from way back but I'll find a newer one of those as time permits. Got my eye on a Fobus...

VooDoo

XDS in a Theis EZ-clip.

The Theis is just plain convenient and simple, and to me, the XDS is the most natural point and shoot pistol. Perfect combo.

Start the peeing match.....yesterday I was carrying two five shot top break .38 S&Ws and a Uberti Walker IWB carry.
