Oh im sure it isn't shot much. That wrist area looks awful weak. As much as it probably cost, I would rarely take it out to shoot a few rounds.
It is a little too flashy for my taste too, but beautiful workmanship nonetheless.

Ha not really. He is a fairly avid hunter. Shelby Cobras (real and replica), '57 fords, and broncos are his main hobbies.

Yeah and the grain looks fairly straight. I just wouldn't wanna risk it very often.

As a woodcarver myself, I think it's an incredible piece of craftsmanship, and art. I'd be proud to own it. I'd also be really careful shooting it.....

That was my thought too. Its more of a piece of art than a tool for punching holes. Also not something I would buy, but still worth appreciating the craftsmanship.

Could you imagine the horror of taking it out and getting a scratch on it? Or a crack? Who has identified the rifle make?

It's an amazing work of art, and as such, I'd never shoot it for fear of damaging the woodwork. It would be a wonderful display piece to go above a fireplace mantel, so I'd pull the firing pin and hang it up. Who'd want to hide that in a gun safe?

Yes, the main giveaway is the shape of the rear end of the bolt. Also appears to be a long action based upon the spacing of the scope rings. As a long action centerfire, I would NOT shoot that rifle for fear of it breaking.
I can and I did it on my brand new Sharps rifle a week after I got it. Had a sinking feeling in my gut for a while as the gouge is on the barrel and deep, like I said, I am a Neanderthal when it comes to firearms. This was the first rifle I had ever splurged on and money did not matter as it was a gift to myself.
