CAS Equipment?

I have developed a real strong interest in Cowboy Action Shooting, and was about to start getting involved in it when I became unemployed. Well, I'm still out of a job, but remaining ever hopeful. I'm looking for suggestions of some good places to get the non-gun equipment, for after I finally start working again and have available resources again to pursue this.

I also have become interested in CAS recently. I have did a Google search and came up with a bunch. CASCITY.com and SASS.com is a great place to start. I haven't found much in the way of inexpensive stuff though. I've been checking Gun Shows and getting Ammo and small things like that. Hope to find some .45 Colt dies and lead this weekend in Austin. I bought some TrailBoss powder last weekend at the show in Conroe. While in Conroe met a guy selling firearms at a reasonable price. Friend of mine purchased a Spartan (imported by Remington) SxS 12 ga. coachgun for $379.NIB

If you're in the Austin area then your best bet is getting in contact with one of the local CAS groups and asking them who they suggest.

Cabela's, down in Buda, has some entry level gear if you are looking for mass produced gear. But I just had a rig made in the same price range by Vaquero Leather, based in Lockhart.

If you find a local supply for authentic or semi-authentic boots let me know, I'm still looking.

There are a couple of groups in town, but the only one I've had experience with is the Travis County Regulators. They're a real friendly group and your first shoot is free, and they provide some campfire cooking. Don't worry about if you don't have a full rig, come down and talk to the locals. I've also heard good things about the Tejas Caballeros, but I haven't had the time to check them out.
