Case storage or not?

Hi guys. I have a Beretta Silver Pigeon II o/u. I have always heard that storing a rifle in it's case is not a good idea and I use gunsocks on mine. Is my Beretta case silicone treated or something? Do I need to get that pig outta there quick? Thanks for the help. I would hate to mess this shotgun up by being ignorant.

Never store any gun in any case.
Cases are intended to protect guns from dents and dings when being carried around.
Even treated cases will attract moisture and cause rust.

The best way to store is either in a box of some sort along with some vapor paper rust proofer, or in an area where air is free to circulate around the gun.

dfariswheel's logic is the same as mine. However, I can get away with case-storage because I live in an arid region. Desiccant packs could be used, but with that much foam, the pack would be hardpressed to soak all that moisture. Foam lined cases are big sponges.

The guys are right. Cases are for transport, not storage.

Silicone socks, silica gel dryers, etc, work. So does lots of TLC and exposure to dry, cool air.
