We've had to put a dog down recently and now we're wanting to start looking around for a good hunting dog. I'm really considering looking for a catahoula but my number one need at the moment is a dog that can retrieve. My cousins have a catahoula and say that they've actually seen it pointing at different birds in their backyard (the dog has never been trained and has never hunted in it's life. The parents are unknown.) and will retrieve balls when thrown. I'm wondering if it's just that dog or if it might even be normal for a catahoula to point and retrieve alongside their pig hunting abilities.
