Was just wondering if you can use this small rifle primers from CCI, even though it states Magnum on box, for an AR rifle or are this primers better off used on a bolt action?

I've did a search function and read about 20 pages before giving up. Can I use the bench rest on the AR? This was all I could find but decided not to buy.

In reality a small rifle magnum primer is probably a better choice than a standard primer in an AR. The CCI #41 NATO primers which are recommended for loading AR ammo are magnum strength primers. When loading .223 ammo for an AR I use CCI #41, CCI-450, Remington 7 1/2, CCI-400 primers in that order.

I think the BR4 Benchrest primers are the same as the CCI-400 primers except they are supposed to be more reliable and consistent.

^^^There it is right there.^^^
I use Rem 7 1/2 which is classified as a Mag primer in all my AR's.

IMO, the CCI 450 is a good choice in all 223 loads when worked up, as they have .025" thick cups compared to the CCI 400 standard SRP of .020" cup thickness.

The CCI 450 is comparable to the CCI #41 Nato spec primer, and can take the higher pressure loads as well as providing more brisance to ignite the harder to light ball powders often associated with 5.56 loads.
