Same velocity in these two bullets except one is suppose to break up into 3 pieces(segmented).
Which is preferred for rodent control, squirrels, rats etc?
    1,640 fps in both rounds.

I use CB caps but shots are pellet gun close but I don't want pellet gun sound. CB's are very quite.

I doubt a rat could tell you the differance after being shot with either one.

:D CCI bullet in .22 LR before used to be called Qwik shot. But this time both are rated same velocity.

I shot one rock squirrel with a Quik-Shok three-piece bullet, at about fifteen yards. Surprisingly large exit wound, larger than from any hollowpoint I'd ever used.

CCI no longer makes the Quik-Shok round or did they change it to Stinger Segmented Hollow Point?

I would try diffent brands and shoot what is the most accurate. Squirrel ain't gona no the diffence between cci mini mag hp or wolf M/T . But your groups might. You do want to eat the squirrels right, head shots only.

What if there is no difference in accuracy and both bullets cost the same price?

Rodent or pest!!! squirrels are not rodents in my book! They are however delicious, fired up all brown and crispy with squirrel gravy on the side.... you don't know what your missing!

As for the stingers, I'll have to agree with the ' what ever is the most accurate' statement!

When we were kids, we used to cut an X into the top of your run of the mill hollow points with a razor blade, made for a nasty hole!

My Grandfather hunted squirrel for decades with a cheap single shot 22. But he didnt use head shots...that would have ruined his plans for a delicious plate of scrambled eggs with squirrel brains...He used a shoulder shot, and always used regular HV Remington solids.

I love squirrel fried up all nice and crispy, but the brains I just cannot stomach!

I had a Aunt that loved that stuff, she'd peel those little noggins and put them on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees...crack the heads open with a hammer! Yuk!

I shot a couple of tree-rats with some Remington Yellow Jackets, which are basically hollow-point versions of the vipers, and it made some amazing holes in the poor things. I hit one in the gut and had entrails everywhere.

The Quik-Shok I bought back in 1999 was a red box by CCI. The shell casing on that one was not as long as the Stinger back then unlike today where they are both the same. The segmented Stinger is a gold casing and the the Stinger is the same silver casing.

I have both Vipers and Yellow Jackets too. Isn't the Viper a different shape nose not a HP?

Stinger ,just how far do you shoot these rodents. 50 yards? What size groups will it shoot. It took me several decades of cci stinger 22 shooting to finally fiquer out even in my old 512P rem that most any match/target grade ammo will shoot groups much tighter at 50yards and beyoud. Most all coon hunters up here shoot fed match or cheap but real accurate wolfM/T for 4 bucks a box. No hp rounds. Even a buddys marlin, the clip feed model 60 will shoot 1" at 50 yards with fed match. Always stingers on the shelves anymore but no good stuff. Oh aguila think has 1700+ fps round if you want the fastest.

I have shot both of those Aguilar rounds in HP and solid point. They smell funny when you shoot them. I wonder if they are dirtier than the CCI Stinger rounds?

No 'prairie' dog in my neck of the woods, but we do have a nice herd of 'ground hogs, you know, whistle pigs..... I used to eat those, done up right in a crock pot with veggies, they are not bad, but I haven't eaten one in years.

Try some Winchester 'Power Points' 40gr solids or 40gr hollow points, either one does nice, and they are really accurate.

I shot gobbler in the spring with one 70 yards neck shot... CCI stinger I recall not sure if it split in one o re more pieces, but that turkey was dead when I walked to him.

No you don't eat prairie dogs! Those flea infested, plague carryin' suckers. Leave them out there for the coyotes and magpies. They are a rodent deluxe!:barf:
