My work may be taking me to New Orleans in the near future. Not exactly the safest place in the world right now. I live in FL. My question is, if I get a CCW permit in FL, and am travelling to NO on buisness, is the permit valid there, or do I need to get one in Louisiana too?

State Reciprocity List

Check the CHL reciprocity list for both FL and LA.
You can usually find these lists on the state police website.
IANAL and I suggest you check both state's sites.

Whoa, check it out, when your Florida license is about to expire (90 days before), the state of Florida MAILS A RENEWAL APPLICATION TO YOU!:what:

Mine expires in March of 2008, so by January 2008 Florida will send me a renewal application. Got to love that big electoral vote service! This having to do things yourself can be bothersome.:D

You can find Very good info on every states CC laws on Packing.orghttp://www.packing.org/state/louisiana/
This is the page on Louisiana.
Now the person that stated "Good-to-Go" isn't giving good advice. Your carry permit(Florida) is valid in Louisiana, But are the laws the same? If you know everything about florida cc-L as you and everyone carring in fl. should, You also must understand all of the other states laws, They are simmular, but they could have some differences.
Example. Minnesota law, if you are stopped by a copper you are under no obligation to declair you are carrying. maybe it would be good if you do though. (2005 law states we have to declair if asked by the copper) But Michigan law states that upon being pulled over by a cop, you "must" imediatly declair. Small diferences in the laws can create very big problems.
Be carful and Do Your Homework.

I just had a former student of mine arested for DWI and he had , ya you gessed it.
