CDNN is offering oddball magazines.

Noticed CDNN was offering some obsolete and uncommon magazines, and I've ordered a couple.
They have '03 Vest Pocket and '03 Pocket Hammerless .32 Mags, along with '08 .380s, and Officers .45s. They are claiming 'original manufacturer', though I can't verify that. The Vest Pocket mag worked just fine, and a previously purchased '03 Pocket Hammerless Colt as well.
Anyway, have a look.

I would love to know what leads to the release of these tranches of magazines, or who ordered their production initially. There can't be a huge market, though the Pocket Hammerless was built recently, on commission from Colt.
And other odd stuff; CDNN seems a real scrounge of all sorts of interesting things. I've done business with them in the past.
Anyway, glad they do it.

The 380 for pocket hammerless appear to be Triple K. This is based on CDNN listing and UPC cross-check as follows:

Model "17M"

You are not getting quality, brand new magazines from CDNN for the Colt, in my opinion. I have little faith in the Triple-k brand. I would much rather buy from US Armament if still available.

No experience with donsweaponry, just a reference point for cross check.

Since the guns themselves are 50 years, or more, out of production, it's not surprising that the mags aren't, strictly speaking, "original equipment".
I will say the one for the Vest Pocket has already been test hopped, and ran just fine. The previously purchased Pocket Hammerless .32 magazine has also been a winner. We'll see how the Officers' mags run, though they are more likely "original equipment".
Bear in mind, we're talking mags for older guns, that won't see a ton of shooting, but it's nice to have a spare all the same. Original, Colt two tone mags are scarce and expensive.
No gripes with CDNN; I've a P320 red box that was a winner, in addition to other odds and ends. Their service and prices have been good.

Happens to be the only magazine I have that has been loaded for longer than I have been alive, original spring too.
An older gal brought a Pocket Hammerless to our training class. I expected it to be empty, so didn't drop the magazine, but did check the chamber. Nope, there was even one up the spout. Wonder how long that was loaded?

Me too. Got a new-in-Sig-package threaded P239 barrel for around $80, a few years ago. Dropped right into .40 P239 and runs great.

CDNN is ok, have done business with them in the past no issues.

I had tried triple-k mags for an obscure spanish pistol, didn't really fit properly, kinda soured me on their mags after I got some for a Beretta model 70 (new puma) and had to work on them to make them function properly. But sometimes they are the only game in town for the old, old things.

Perhaps I was a bit harsh in my earlier reply.

I quit using them a long time ago after I bought some mini 14 mags that didn't work and they told me to kick rocks when I said I wanted a refund.

I have an old Hungarian Femaru FEG Mod37 .32acp and have been casually looking for a magazine (it's certainly not a priority at this point)

The only reproduction I have been able to find is an offering from Triple K (originals are well north of $100)

Although the price of the Triple K's aren't prohibitive to try, I've been told mags for a Walther PP (not PPK) will fit/function.

Any 1st hand experience?

Reading "a brand called Original Equipment" made me spill my coffee while laughing. Thanks for the morning chuckle!
If you look at their list of magazines on the left in the link below, hit “show more”, and “Original Equipment” brand pops up.

Y-T71, you might ask over on the Walther forum. Or, if you want, I'll ask. Something sounds vaguely familiar there, thought it might be necessary to change the mag latch slot.

Well, it's not really a 'brand'.... ;)

But it’s really original equipment, either.

I ordered 1 of each, I have a triple k for my 32 that works OK but fit n finish is lacking. The original mag as the gun itself is in great shape. I've never had an extra for the 25.
Thanks for the heads up.

From the CDNN site:

"COLT 1903 7RD 380ACP MAGAZINE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT"

"Steel construction with steel baseplate and steel follower.

Floorplate marked "CAL. 380 COLT"

This magazine is original equipment; which means it's manufactured in the same factory using the same process as the magazines that shipped with the gun originally."

Which can't be accurate (in this case) unless Colt is still manufacturing magazines for a pistol not made by them since 1945?

Or if they contracted out the magazines in the first place, and the third-party is still up and running?

When I picked up my Beretta Model 70S at the dealer I also asked if they had any spare magazines for it. and They said no but they had a couple of Beretta factory mags that might work. One was for the Model 101 but was missing the spacer piece. The other mag was in .32 but it had the spacer so I bought them both. Moved the spacer over to the .22 mag. Works fine but to this day I can't recall whatever happened to the .32 mag.

But then they would not be OEM. Still, we're moving a little toward speculation, and since US Armament was licensed by COLT to reintroduce the hammerless pistols, I'm more confident buying their mags for that particular pistol. I have an original COLT mag, but I'd bought the US Armament ones to shoot. They work as expected, and the original COLT are kinda collecty.
