CDNN has S&W 4566's in VG to excellent condition for $389. Has anyone else bought one from them? Any pics of what they consider VG to excellent? I like the 3rd gen S&W's, I just wonder about the condition....I've seen some pics of other sellers ideas of "very good" condition and I fail to agree with the grade.

Best Regards,
Jerry

I will...if they only have a couple left I'm gonna guess they aren't saving the best for last.....maybe I'm just being a "glass is half empty" type. lol

Thanks,
Jerry

CDNN is a seller I would always bet on, I've been buyng magazines and other things from them for years, bought a few guns from them, they are incredible.

I wouldn't expect to get anything substandard and definitely nothing that isn't worth what you pay out of them.

I have had 'pleasant' transactions with CDNN on a number of occasions.

No real bargains, but honest used guns at fair prices.

Don't forget to factor shipping and FFL fees, plus any additional mags, into the cost.

Got mine from CDNN a few years back when these ex-L.E. Smiths were just starting to trickle in ...

Executive summary for those interested:

This one was a typical cop gun - that is, it was carried a lot and shot very little, except at the annual qual-ritual. :scrutiny:

Internally, however, it was very dirty. The muzzle-end of the slide showed noticable holster wear. But the gun also arrived with the factory upgrades to the later 45XX-series models, like the black hammer and trigger.

Surprisingly, the fixed Novak Trijicons had been refurbished with new inserts (not sure by whom, but don't think it was CDNN). You could quickly pick up the sight-pic in low-light. In a "no-light" environ they were extremely bright.

I cleaned it up and function-fired it for about 300-rds. I noticed that the ramp appeared well-polished, another benefit of it being a cop-gun, I assumed.

My sample shot perfectly to point-of-aim without sight adjustment using some 230gn ball ammo I had. Decent groups too. It then shot nice tight groups with Remington's 230gn Golden Sabers. There were no hicupps at all using any of six different 45XX-series mags I've come into over the years.

Not having anything that might even remotely be called a "pimp gun," I figured "What the hell?"

So I shipped it off to Virgil Tripp @ Tripp Research for hard-chroming, along with the mag that came with it. Virgil did his usual excellent work.

The gun returned looking "brand new out of the box."

As I've said before, amid all the "fantastic plastics," S&W's 3rd Generation 10XX- and 45XX-series pistols continue to be vastly underrated in the U.S. shooting community.

Don't pass one up if you get the chance. ;)

I ordered a 4566 on Thursday from CDNN. Not sure what they consider VG condition....but we'll see. I'll post a pick (it should be in by Monday or Tuesday). I really like the 3 gen S&W semi auto's and look forward to a new project.

Best,
Jerry

How do you contact CDNN to see their gun inventory? I looked online and can't find it. I emailed them, but get emails that don't offer much. Any info/links would be helpful. i'd like to pick one of these guns up too.

Just go to the website and check out the catalog. I received my 4566 last week. It was in great condition. I ordered some factory grips and standard 3 dot sights (the night sights were pretty dim). Other than that it looks like it was barely shot. The internals are spotless.
