I was at the range with a buddy today and he was trying to sight a rifle in so I grabbed his Ruger 22lr target pistol with a 3-9-32 centerpoint scope on it and man was that thing clear and had a nice reticle. I like how it lights up too for coon hunting at night. Just looking for a decent 22 rifle scope.

Anyone have any experience with these?

I have 4 of them. They have been clear and reliable. Extraordinary for the price.
That's what I said when I picked up his handgun. I told him I'm going to have to get one of these for my 22lr cause this thing is pretty clear and the crosshairs are nice too. Right now the rifle is wearing a bushnell 4-12 that came on a package gun and a bushnell banner 3-9 bdc but the bdc kind of clusters in there and hard to be pin point with it.

I'm also thinking muller now that I did some searches on here but I hate buying anything not name brand for fear of issues.

Centerpoint is owned by Crosman, usually they do pretty good research and work on their products. The older ones ive seen were pretty nice, glass about the same as bushnell trophys, but with more features.
The current crop ive never used.
The Mueller APVs have been a popular rimfire scope for quite some time, and before that from my understanding the scopes were Simmons ATVs, which got pretty high marks. Ive looked at them a few times but never bought one, mostly because i prefer side focus scopes, they are just easier for me.
I actively keep a look out for used Nikon 4.5-14x40 buckmasters on ebay, sometimes they come up in the 120-150 price range in really good shape.
Im probably going to get an Athlon Talos or Neos for my .22, and if your still looking after I spend time with it ill let you know how it works.

I don’t have any experience with the older Centerpoint scopes. When I was selling scopes and guns from 2014-2017 we had a large number returned because they crapped out. Don’t know if they were on rimfires, centerfires or both.

I found the Mueller APV for about $110 and based on a few old threads I found on here they are highly regarded and more so on Rimfirecentral.com.

I've come into 3.
Killed one fast on a 243win. Another died almost 5 years later on a 308. And a well used one is still ticking along years later on my 10/22. Good and clear enough that I haven't replaced it yet.

Yeah rimfire guys do really seem to like those. I'm selling a couple of my center-fire scopes and probably going to buy a rimfire specific scope soon, those as well as the clearridge, and a few others are on the list to check out.

for me, there are so many cheap chinese goods flooding our markets, that when it comes to scopes, I don't grab the cheapest blister pack I can find.
I am sure they are on par with many entry level scopes.
If I was looking to spend just that much I would get on ebay or the like and find an old (Old) tasco world class or US made weaver. Maybe a bausch or bushnell. Occasionally I will go for a 150 dollar Jap Weaver. Very good scopes.

I had one of the newer Centerpoints on a pellet rifle combo. I didn’t think the glass was overly good. Shooting multiple distances required re-adjustments. Gave it to one of the kids and bought a Leupold.

I bought up some Weavers when they were on sale. I am really happy with the quality for the money. I have had good luck with Winchester air rifle scopes on air rifles. They are actually very strong to withstand the recoil of break action air rifles. Optically not great but not a horrible as GAMO or some others. They are sharp at close range.

I put one of their 2 X scopes on my MK IV to see if I would like a scoped pistol. It's clear and was easy to zero and has held zero. The recoil of a MK IV Targer isn't going to prove much in the way of durability I admit. It was a fairly cheap way to find out I don't really like scoped handguns and it will be replaced by a red dot.

Did you end up with the Athlon? I started reading reviews about them online today and all seems very good.

I ended up getting a used intensity 3-12x44 instead....this time

My Midas btr hasn't come in yet.

I've had 4 argos and still own 2.
2 were 3-15x40s. Without a focus option they weren't really usable over 10power besides at the 100-150 yds they were focused for.

4-20x50 has been excellent, and the ahmr1 reticle is nice.

I replaced 1 of the 3-15s with a 2-10 duplex and im happy with it.

Honestly just cause its so cheap for what you get I'd recommend the midas btr, but it IS a big heavy scope.

The Argos is a bit lighter and again, I've been very happy with mine.

So long story short, I haven't tried the Talos, but those are on my list if I get a lighter hunting rimfire.

I bought a Crosman CenterPoint 3-9x40 first focal plane scope for about $60 when Academy was closing them out. I put it on a Ruger 10/22. So far it seems to have held up well. It holds zero and the side parallax adjustment seems to work OK.

Clarity of the glass is not bad. The reticle is a bit thicker than I would like, and being a FFP scope, it seems to get thicker with increasing magnification. It only enlarges proportionate to the target, of course, but it still looks too thick.

Update on mine as the thread has been revived this week:

I believe that’s the seal material (latex?) now caught in the crosshairs. That would mean no O-rings inside just a paint on bit around the lenses. Happened when my daughter added it back on the pellet rifle it originally came packaged with.

I have no doubt many Centerpoint scopes work fine. I also have no doubt that a much higher percentage of them fail than brands such as Leupold. Also the glass is a serious step down from brands I’ve used on rimfires, notably Vortex, Bushnell, Clearidge and Leupold.
