Century International Arms Customer Service Experience

    I bought a wasr in 7.62x39 at a funshow about 3 weeks ago. I took it home (after an extensive cleaning) to the range and the bolt wouldn't close on any rounds and when it finally did, it would not feed (the bolt would get stuck on top of a round). Also, the front sites were canted. I called Century and they told me to ship it in. The customer service girl from Vermont said it would take 6 to 7 weeks.

    I shiped it via UPS ground that Monday. They didn't pay for shipping...they would only pay to ship it back. This Tuesday, I got the rifle back after only 3 weeks! It looks like they replaced the entire bolt and bolt carrier, smoothed some of the edges inside the receiver, and fixed the canted front sites. I took it to the range yesterday and after 250 or so of wolf fmj and hp, it functions 100%.

    Hats off to century for building a crappy rifle and making it work!

    I have a lukewarm feeling about Century having sold and bought some of their stuff over the last twenty or more years.

    "Drunken monkeys" is a term used regularly when Century Arm International, or any of their products, is mentioned but they do in fact keep a couple sober judge monkeys around to make things right.

    I am glad to hear a positive footnote on this firm.

    Guess I was lucky. My WASR was okay except for incomplete magwell enlargement. Plugged in my Dremel and took care of it myself.

    I save my praise for people or companies that do things right the first time rather than allow the customer to be their QC department.

    As a contractor once said, There's never enough time to do a job right but there is always time to do it over.
