may want to put the address on the front page. WA is a big state, Its a 7 hour drive from me. People are lazy, I know I am, an easy website goes a lot further than people appreciate. Are you representing the school?

Address is on the front page, scroll down.

I own the school. Been going since last September, so far going very well.

This thread may be shut down as an advertisement, and honestly I would agree with that move since you are on a public forum barking for business without putting in any cash for advertising.

That said, it looks really cool and if I weren’t so far away I might consider some of the classes. Looks like educational fun.

Understood and I wouldn’t know where to start either. May want to track down a moderator and ask a couple questions, they can certainly point you in the right direction.

I looked at the thread about read this before posting in this area, and didn't find anything about such a thing. But I can see where such a thing might be abused.

I will track down a moderator right away.

My background...

I have been a WSCJTC (Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission) certified firearms instructor since 1993. WSCJTC is the governing body for Police and County Sheriff's in the state.

Taught firearms at the academy for about three years. Helped rewrite the academy and post academy training curriculum, back in 2008. Was part of a group that taught and certified all LE instructors in the state.

Am part of the WSLEFIA (Washington State Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors Assoc.) group. I was one of the original members when it was founded back in 1991. Every year the assoc. has a week long seminar in July, which met at the Sun Valley Shooting Park out toward Moxee, but now meets at Rattlesnake Ridge Gun Club outside of Richland. The group brings in instructors from all over to teach classes throughout the week. Over the years we've had Clint Smith, Chuck Taylor, John Farnam, Todd Jarrett, Ray Chapman, Louis Awerbuck, Dennis Tueller, Kyle Lamb, even Col Jeff Cooper came out, along with Gary Roberts ballistic expert, and many other names that at the moment have escaped me, along with training groups such as LMS Defense, Safariland Shooting School and Magpul. Even trained with Larry Vickers when he came out to the Okanogan area for his 1911 course back in 2011. I have paper certificates backing up everything.

Been trained in 1911 work by one the best 'smiths around, Richard Neimer. He was with Detonics back in the 80's and 90's, and was the Chief pistolsmith with Olympic Arms / Safari Arms before his untimely passing a few years ago. He developed the Janus Scoremaster on his own.

Been through many armorer schools from S&W, Remington, Glock, Colt, Sig and HK.

I have been blessed to have been trained by some of the best in the industry...even some of the patriarchs.

I saw a tab across the top about advertising...250.00 a month, not ready for that rate yet. But will see if I can discuss things being a supporter or something.

There are lots of supporting members, and a lot of supporting businesses. Work it out with the mods, but there are lots of places who do serious business on here and offer a slight discount to members.

I was just complaining on another forum about a lack of training options in the pacific northwest.
Couple questions for you:
- Gear list didn't specify holster. Are AIWBs cool to run provided the student does it safely?
- Do you have any 360 degree bays or a shoot house? any plans to add that to your curriculum?
-Whats the maximum distance you can shoot at your facilities?
-For private lessons, would you be able to work on PRS style positional rifle shooting with improvised rests/barricades/props? What about room clearing/moving through structures with the use of props if a shoot house is not available.

Thanks :)

I hear a lot of the "Train as you fight" garb...it tends to aim towards gear, and not much to training. I try to get people to think outside of the tiny box that a lot of ranges and schools put their students in. When I run my drills, at first I want the student to follow directions as given. As the day goes on, I watch and see how things are progressing. If all is going well, I will let the student dictate when they reload, when they re-holster, and not get stuck in two or three shot drills. Let them decide how many they feel needs to get the job done. Train them past the drill. If the drill is 2 shots, have them think 3-4-5+. Stop the "take the shot and pull back and look" garbage. Stop the useless scan that goes back and forth about 1-2 feet after the drill is over. So to answer your questions;

1 - I do not specify gear. Nor will we throw out opinions on what people bring unless a few things come up;
1 - The gear tends to be unsafe
2 - The gear hinders the shooter in being efficient
3 - We are asked our opinion

2 - We can shoot about 270 deg. Shoot house using simunitions is on the horizon.

3 - Max distance is 200 yards

4 - We do private training (see website) on positional rifle and pistol shooting, as well as room clearing etc. Although, I will not teach people these kinds of things unless I believe they are ready for it. Meaning, can they run their chosen weapon to the point where they can focus on what's around them, instead of what's on their hands. It's useless to instruct folks if they can't can't run their chosen weapon efficiently, it's counter productive. So we go through some of my basic drills to see what level the shooter is.

Once anyone trains with us, they have access to the range free of charge anytime they are in the Goldendale area...provided I'm around to attend...insurance requirements ya know. I am very student driven. Any of my students can contact me anytime...email, text, or call to discuss shooting issues, past class curriculum etc., again no charge.

Hope this helps you out. Feel free to call and discuss anything with me. if I don't answer, leave a message and I'll get back to you the same day.

That does help. I have a feeling I'll be booking some training with you as my work schedule allows it
