I'm waiting to receive my CGS Mod9 which comes with a standard 1/2x28 piston, and I'm trying to figure out what parts I need to order to run it on a Sig P320 and Sig MPX. I've ordered a threaded barrel for the P320, so both firearms will have 13.5x1LH threads.

For the P320, I think I just need to order a 13.5x1LH piston from CGS. What do I need for the MPX? I see they have a spacer; do I use that with the piston (in place of the spring)? I also see a three lug option, but no direct-thread / fixed mount option.

What would you recommend in this situation?

After googling a bit, I went ahead and ordered the piston and spacer.

Interestingly, I found a thread on reddit with a few reasons for preferring piston+spacer over direct mount. Here's a quote from that thread (link below):
We don't do direct thread mounts for handgun silencers for a few reasons, primarily because you're most likely going to unscrew the silencer from the direct thread mount when uninstalling the silencer from the barrel, leaving the direct thread mount on the barrel. Which is particularly terrible if the silencer mount area sits under a rail. With a piston and fixed barrel spacer you don't have to worry about that regardless of the direction you need to twist it to install/uninstall because the piston spokes are locked rotationally to to the piston cage/piston housing assembly.

It'd also be made of stainless steel and you'd dirty up the locking recess for the piston spokes. It wouldn't have much of any weight savings or length savings anyway. Maybe ~.2" and a fraction of an ounce if I remember right.

I prefer direct thread mounts to spacers because they ensure better alignment, but the reasons they cited are valid. You really need features and a tool that engages those features to ensure enough torque on a low profile DT mount to prevent it coming undone from the can instead of the muzzle. My DT mounts have said features, but that does come with needing a tool to swap it.

Carbon fouling of the booster housing is an overstated issue IME but Josh knows what he's doing, builds some dang good cans.

Nice suppressor. You'll like it.

I used the fixed spacer with mine on my carbines for a while, then when CGS came out with the three lug, I started using that. It's expensive, but a lot more convenient and you don't have to worry about it backing off.

I'm using Griffin's Cam-Lok piston on my handguns. They have them for a few suppressors, including CGS. It gives you three lug like functionality on handguns while still using a booster.
