Is this a project a non-gunsmith (ie, me) can do?

What would be involved with removing the rear sight on a Sistema and replacing it with a mil-spec rear sight? Is this sight just simply friction fit into the dovetail? Can i just tap it out and replace with a new one?

Yup, you can drive it out with a brass punch. But do it carefully so that the punch doesn't slip and mar the slide. A new sight made for a Government Model Colt should fit the dovetail. Drive the sight out from left to right. Keep in mind that if the new rear sight is higher then the old one the one in front will probably need to be replaced too.
