This is the latest incarnation of a gun that borrows attributes from many designs. Overall, it is very Sig-like. Frame size is roughly equivalent to the 226 with a 229 upper on it. Meaning full service size with about an inch shorter barrel. The first time I remember see this, it was a Yugoslavian import (I forget what it was called). Later it was brought in as the CZ-99 but was not, from what I've able to gather, a real CZ and was not brought in by CZUSA. A local shop still has a brand new one in the case (I'd imagine it's about 5 years old now). Then it was brought in as the Israeli Golan. I had one of these in .40. Accurate. Only reliable with full power loads though. Pluses were an ambidextrous decocker and mag release (similar in design to the XD/HS2000 series). Later it was brought in as the TZ series guns in .40 and 9mm. Charles Daly is merely the latest incarnation. And, BTW, it has been discontinued. That's why CDNN is closing them out. This particular variant has some sort of indicator set in one of the grip screws that has been problematic (I believe it's a loaded magazine indicator). My impression is it's a good $200 gun. Much more than that is not a good idea b/c support for this design just isn't there. Something breaks, you'll have a hard time getting it serviced/parts.

BTW, a little unsolicted advice: Get the Stoeger Cougar (which is the same as the Beretta Cougar) CDNN has for $299. Parts are readily available as are magazines and the gun is still in production (albeit made in Turkey). Much better deal.

I ran across several of these in Bosnia and test drove one at the range we used there. Good pistol. I was impressed. Accuracy and manual of arms comparable to any SIG.

As noted, this is the Zastava CZ-99, made by one of the old Federal Republic of Yugoslavia's most respected arms firms. It is a product-improved SIG clone. Zastava plant wound up being in Serbia after the breakup of the country. The use of of the CZ designation was internal to the Zastava works and their model coding; not an attempt to infringe upon Czeska Brno of the old Czechoslovakia.

Workmanship and materials good, reliability and local reputation excellent. It was (probably still is) the favored handgun for various paramilitary, cop, and mafia types I dealt with.

A lot of gun for the money. Similar in execution and concept to the Taurus PT clone of the Beretta 92. You will find a lot of Taurus owners who prefer their version to Beretta's. Likewise with the Zastava.

Also as noted, parts will be hard to come by in US although readily available in Europe.

I you like the SIG action and controls, get it.

a local shop had one one time, and i was very interested, i like sig's but don't like the price tag that comes with them, and though this might be a good weapon to have instead, if i remeber correctly the magazines were kinda expensive, but the gun itself was inexpensive enough, but i didn't know how parts avaliablitly would be. and how i would get it fixed if something did happen to it. but the way the previous poster talked they sound pretty good to me!

Thanks! I checked into the Stoeger and you are right it is the same as the Cougar from Berretta. Will check that one out too.
